Wow

Take offense I said agree to disagree. My model was 01. I thought sebo made power heads
Oreck yes I've used a magnesium a platinum a Halo and another. One thing stood out how crappy they performed.
The magnesium is sweet looking but ever oreck I have tried older uprights just mentioned light weight ones. You can like them doesn't mean I have to. I did ask about water lift gauge but your too focused on being right. I seen the motor differences in your post.
Have you used a manesium power head. I guarantee too you haven't. I prefer my setup. I didn't say you were wrong I like my setup.
So read my posts like I have read yours. The claims of TriStar can be backed up but until you use a magnesium as a power head saying it's better than Wessell werk is opinion that you can't have.
I hope you understand opinions. I never tried magnesium power head. I also can have an opinion I can't back up saying which anything other than I'd prefer not to test or use one.
So we got the air cleared just because my opinion different from yours does mean either of us is wrong or entitled to our own opinions. So get off your I am right your an idiot kick.
Thanks for info on power nozzles.
If you are going to try to out smart or better my posts don't bother.

All in all yo uboth took your vacuum and made some improvement .This is the 1 tristar cxl i see whit on off on the hose sweet set up!

Robert, that looks like a very nice TriStar! And interesting mix of parts you used to make the Oreck Magnesium powerhead work.

There's only one thing I would have done differently though - I would have used a Miracle Mate canister instead of a TriStar CXL. Looking back at canister vacuum history, when Airway tried adding a Eureka F&G upright as a powerhead for their canisters in the 1970's, the bags they used clogged quickly & couldn't handle the additional airflow & dirt the fan in the Eureka powerhead brought up. I would only imagine with the TriStar's single ply bags, that would be even worse. Even if you used the EnviroCare micro filtration TriStar bag, or the V.A.C. Vacuum America Clean HEPA Cloth TriStar bag, it wouldn't really improve the vacuum maintaining it's airflow much better. Even the Simplicity Wonder & Riccar Prima Tandem Air canister vacuums would have the exact same issue with the bag clogging prematurely & the vacuum not being able to maintain it's airflow, since the Tacony bags are only 3 ply HEPA Cloth & therefore inferior.

With the Miracle Mate having a tube on the bag door, it's possible to use a cardboard bag top with a Original Miele GN Airclean bag. Since that 9 ply bag DOES allow the vacuum it's in to maintain it's airflow right till the bag is 3/4 full. That would solve the problem that Airway had, & make the combo of a Miracle Mate with the Oreck Magnesium powerhead a REAL Cleaning Beast! :) . In addition, if you blocked off the 2 little side panels that hold the smaller TechnoStat filters so you use only the large panel, you could use the Miele Super Air Clean filter that comes with the pack of bags, so the exhaust air is filtered, & you wouldn't have to add the Filter Fresh filter the TriStar uses, or the Patriot Medik Aire HEPA Filter, so no additional expense for filters.

As much as I really like my TriStar CXL & I love the styling, hose, powerhead & tools, due to the issue they have with the bags clogging I will eventually sell the canister & upgrade to a Miracle Mate canister myself. Sad to say it, but this is a advantage the competition has.

Sad

I have looked at all the compact clones from Patriot, vortech force and miracle mate. I do believe the miracle mate is the best of the bunch. It's odd how TriStar hasn't done much if anything to improve the design. I'm not for oreck albeit it's a sweet looking vacuum. Miracle mate from what I've seen is the superior vacuum.

As a former TriStar salesman, recruiter, trainer and office manager I can assure you that I am familiar with the various nozzles I could have used. I have used virtually all of them. I chose not to use any of them because, again, elementary.

While there is no perfect vacuum this thing is amazing.

Too many opinions and not enough people doing things with them.

Not looking to out-do Master Les or challenge anyone else but I appreciate (most of) the feedback.

I have found a better bag and stopped using paper long ago. Just cut an Oreck HEPA bag in half and drop it in. Ain't hard.

In addition, I do not have allergies and am not concerned about the microscopic particulates that may escape (ie carbon dust) so this keeps it simple.

MM is too ugly for even me to fix so that guy is out of the question - sorry. Aesthetics are important (to me).

Thanks for (most of) you chiming in!

Go make something and show me what you've got ~

Robert, I would agree with you on the looks of the Miracle Mate. I don't think it's ugly per se, but the TriStar CXL is definitely better looking & I like it's retro look better. Also, the short cord on the Miracle Mate's cord rewinder is annoying - only thing you could do about that is to use a extension cord with it. And the first version of the Miracle Mate had the power switch in the back, covered by a kick switch. Not nearly as convenient as the TriStar or later Miracle Mate.

As for the filtration though, I still say that's one advantage that doing up a Miracle Mate instead of a TriStar would have a advantage. Don't forget now, the reason for this post was you were selling this vacuum. If you put that in a vac shop for sale as a used vacuum, consumers nowadays DO care about filtration. The fact that the Miele AirClean bags do filter so well, plus the Super Air Clean filter is included with the bags, has zero cost, & is very effective, would give it a edge over the TriStar in the minds of most consumers.

I appreciate you having good results using a Oreck upright HEPA Cloth bag in your TriStar. I personally have used a Kenmore 5055 HEPA Cloth bag in my TriStar, & know others have used a Numatic Henry bag, but I personally have found that while the Kenmore bag improved filtration signifigantly, it did not improve the TriStar's ability to maintain it's airflow or suction much better over time. In the setup you have there with the Oreck Magnesium powerhead having it's own fan & making it a Tandem Air setup, with it pushing air & dirt into the hose & wands, the bag's ability to resist clogging & allow the cleaner to maintain airflow would be CRUCIAL to the vacuum cleaning to the best of it's ability. While the Oreck, Kenmore & Numatic Henry bags would be good at filtration, compared to the Miele AirClean bag, ALL other bags are inferior. For the time being, the Miele AirClean bag is TRULY SUPERIOR, & the best choice to use in any vacuum that can be modified to use them.

If the looks of the vacuum mattered so much, you could try using a Patriot vacuum instead. But, unlike the Miracle Mate which has it's bag door tube in the middle of the bag door & is straight, the Patriot's bag door tube points at a downward angle & would require modification to not only the Miele bag collar but the bag door tube. In addition, the Miele Super Air Clean filters could not be used, & the Patriot's Medik Aire HEPA filter is VERY pricey - $200 - so if trying to sell it, the replacement cost of the filter would be a deterrent to most consumers considering to buy the vacuum.

Rob ~

You are a rockstar. I love your passion and attention to detail.

Truly.

I really don’t expect anyone to use this as their primary vac; more a conversation piece ... but one never knows. It certainly got a conversation going here ;)

Hey

I understand after remark to first post it wasn't who has tougher vacuum. I will say you are very intelligent. Everyone has there own tastes I thought c9 had more airflow and amps I was misinformed. I just said my preference to black heart. To each his own. Very creative.

Master les

You are going for aesthetics not performance. I go for function not aestetics. The magnesium is very asthetically pleasing. I will say a miracle mate, TriStar or Patriot aren't aestetiycally pleasing. They are the power behind the power nozzle. I could put a shark rocket nozzle head on. If your using an oreck get an electroluxx or royal cylinder cannister vacuum there more aestetiycally pleasing.
I guess you calling people out with only a power nozzle from an oreck aestetiycally pleasing build it on aestetics not functionality. Orecks are trash I don't care if they win a fashion show it's a vacuum not a beauty contest. I'd get royal blue power tank from late 90s and a late 2000s riccar Supra lite 10 with forever belt metal brush roll. It would look good and function just as well. There is no power in there vacuums to make a power nozzle. They are carpet fluffer barely better than a broom. He should have stuck to making lightweight carpet sweepers for older generation trying to be futuristic in design and still have a crap motor did him in.
I know people who sold iec and tristars. If a vacuum was sold door to door or in a vacuum shop I know someone who sold or owned vacuum shop.
The pig vacuum is not pretty. It will get the job done better than most. Orecks are I mean we're just above plastic vacs. They were lightweight and functional. That was there bread and butter. He changed his recipe and oreck folded. Interstate the original is made by miracle mate, girbaldi, REI in California, TriStar USA and trisar Canada and aerus Electrolux all derived from compact. They are all spin offs and they other than girbaldi Italian version are true cleaning machines.
To say miracle mate isn't aestetic when your using a TriStar with oreck is funny. The pigs are pigs there not pretty. Orecks are pretty but are not made to hold up and wistand use over any period of time. I find it funny a pig vacuum is ugly but another is appealing is funny. Pigs are pigs they all ugly. Maybe you should find a better looking companion for oreck maybe a Dyson animal would be appeal aestetiycally to you. Just don't try to win a vacuum contest on looks.
I am not outing anyone well maybe oreck homers but a pig is a pig is a pig. To call one pig cute and another ugly when your basing looks on a pig and an oreck instead of a pig and an oreck is quite funny.
Vacuuming and functionality are what I go for. Take the space age looking grandma vacuum and a pig and the grandma vacuum will break down mid race.
Just because you can connect 2 wires from a vacuum to two wires on another vacuum doesn't make you a genius. Connecting wires from one well built machine to another well built machine doesn't mean anyone's a genius. Calling people out for not having a beautiful turd that's dumb. It's a turd I can make a beautiful turd doesn't mean I'm going to waste my time and make one.
I'm done ranting I'm not out doing anyone and you shouldn't be either.

Les ~

That's enough out of you. You make constant assumptions and come across as completely ignorant in most cases. I am HAPPY to be the one to tell you that.

The POS you are referring to was custom built from brand new parts as a proof of concept and is one of a kind.

The Magnesium you are referring to was a $700 vacuum (of which I own two) - never saw the "trash" and that TriStar would whoop your ass.

There is little if any spray paint on the Kirby. I do not know where you got that idea. That is hours of polishing and applications of layers silver buffed in to the plastic with custom pieces all over.

I am not even sure what a "troll" is but for you to call me that is offensive on the highest level. Especially coming from you, TROLL.

If anyone should stop posting it is you. sir. You have little if anything to offer. I have read - or TRIED to read- your posts and you simply have no idea of what you are saying the majority of the time though you love to say whatever comes to you little mind using whatever words you know whether they make sense or not.

I have kindly avoided this until now but YOU, sir, are the one that needs a hobby. In fact, I am an artist. In fact I do have an exhibit of art. I also have over 20 years of experience in the vacuum industry which has allowed me to be creative. I have sold my vacuums before and will sell these, too!

Shut your freaking hole. Stop posting your opinions. GET A LIFE and don't believe everything you know. Go back to school. Stop hijacking people's threads. Stop drinking or smoking whatever it is you are.

There are doctors out there that can help you. GO FIND ONE - STAT.

I realize this will likely get removed and perhaps me banned but it is quite worth it for me to let you know how most of us feel about you, damn it.

Once this is gone I will make another account just to come back and post this to you and bash anything you have to say about anyone else in the future.

GO TO BED. I am serious. You are the worst of the worst. Your insecurities are written all over your posts.

I have no respect for you.

No one who knows me would ever say something like that to me. YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE.

FUCK YOU LES, FROM ALL OF US.

Sincerely, Robert
