Hello again, I'd like to show you a picture of some luxes of mine, the only ones that I use to keep in myliving room. From left to right:
Lux model V (5/26)
Lux model XI (11/31) it features cloth covered hose and later bakelite power cord connection hose intake.(original box and all the tools)
Lux model Z 25 (probably around 1938)
Lux model ZA 55 (purchased for $2 in stockolm Sweden)
Lux model Z 55 (purchased last monday in milan, perfectly working)

In the second picture some of the Vorwerk kobolds I own, from left to right:

rem heavy duty floor polisher

This made in Italy floor polisher has been a best selling over here for over 40 years. 3 models, I own all three. This is the medium one. thick alluminium, heavy duty 320 watts motor, very heavy but extremely lightweight when in use. I love it!

Hey, that's a very nice model XI Electrolux you have. I got an XI for my birthday from a fellow antique fan collectors association member. At the antique fan collectors convention this year, besides some old fans, I also took an XI that I've had for several years, that I believe the people who gave it to me said was found in a barn, so it's in pretty bad shape. I had it on the table at my booth, and a fellow fan collector of mine said "who the heck(I'll just use heck instead of the term he used) brought that gosh darn(again, I'll just say "gosh darn" instead of the two words he used!) brought that old Electrolux?!" I picked it up and walked over there, and he said "oh, yeah, I've got that same thing at home, but mine still has the switch and the bag and everything"I was thinking "Yeah go ahead, Ray! rub it in why dontcha?!" (because mine was missing the switch, cord, handle.) I just had to ask him if he would consider selling it, and shockaroo(as my mom would say), he just said that he hated the so-and-so thing, and told me he'd just give it to me if I sent him my address! The handle is still on it, but it's pretty well worn. It looks like the handle on a model XII, but it is brown leather, instead of black rubber. He also told me that the motor wasn't original. I was dissappointed, because it wouldn't run, and I looked, and there were no carbon brushes! I thought that I had found the problem, but it was much more than that...I took the switch loose, and shined a flashlight through there, and to my surprise, saw a second set of carbon brushes! So I pulled the motor apart, and someone has taken a motor from another tank or canister, and cut it up so they could cram it in there! Also, it appears that the armature shaft was too long, and they cut it off. They just did away with the front bearing plate and stationary fan. Now, it's just the shell from the newer motor crammed in there, with the field coil, armature, and fan. The rest is just open. Very noisy. I have used it a few times when I first got it, but I can't stand listening to it anymore!

I found a complete Vorwerk VK 120 a few months back at a local thrift store and I just love the versatility & "ergonomics" of it!

It's extremely light and easy to handle, and with its flat design and the way the body pivots left/right & up/down, it can reach places most uprights can't.

You can also remove the handle and power nozzle with the push of a button, and voila, you have a small portable vac with all the power of an upright (much easier to convert than a Kirby, that's for sure!)

I can't say much about its looks, though, nothing very exciting about the plastic construction and green color scheme... looks like something your grandparents would own, lol. (it also seems to be more for homes with lots of bare floor space and a few area rugs, not a fully carpeted home)

I had a Vorwerk VK120 and a 121 for a while - I loved them, although the suction dropped noticably as the bag filled up, and I wasn't too impressed with the bottom-filling bag...could have done with more power, too. But ultimately great cleaners to use, light and easy to steer around furniture - all Dyson's claims about his 'Ball' being the first upright to have that degree of handling is rubbish! Excellent, well-made machines, and I do miss them! I made quite a good profit, though, which was ultimately spent on my Hoover 925, so there is a silver lining!

well, Vorwerk vk 120-122
weren't very powerful, but they worked very well and they were simple and aeasy to use. Think that in Italy carpet is much less popular than in the usa. The meaning of a kobold has always been being a lightweight stickbroom for everyday surface cleaning, but the powernozzles, especially from model et 340, werevery good and powerful, the Ideal for cleaning even expensive rugs without any risk of damaging them. In the early nineties direct connect, triple brush floor polishers and bare floor cleaner were introduced meeting the request of the italian market.
Things are much different today in terms of quality:
the new generations (k 130-k 135) feature indirect air system, polipropylene high effeciecy disposable-self sealing bags, with charcoal granules inside to eliminate odours right inside the bag, pre-motor filter and true hepa filtration;
The new model features a 900 watts motor which is designed to turn at a maximum speed of 38.000 rpm:amazing!!! extremely powerful, 2450 mm H20 (I don't know how it could be translated into american measures).
when you use it for carpet cleaning, with the powernozzle it draws only 400 watts ( minimum for the vacuum-300 watts plus 100 watts for the powernozzle) and works fine.You can raise the speed when you need more suction of course.
I purchased mine in 2003, complete with all the cleaning tools, powernozzle, floor cleaner/polisher,elecric upholstery cleaner and carpet/mattress dry cleaner ( a feature included in the powernozzle package of course, here in Italy) and it works fine. It is not a heavy duty vacuum cleaner but in most homes, even if carpeted, it is so easy to manouver around and under pieces of furniture and reach almost everywhere and everything. I just love it! As I have a large house, almst completely carpeted, with a lot of free-empty surfaces, whan I have to clean all of the carpet I prefer to use my kirby Gsix, or the Sebo X3 whose powernozzle is 50%larger than the vorwerk 351. IF I wasn't a vacuum cleaner collector and I had to choose between a kirby and a Vorwerk, I'd choose the Vorwerk, that's sure. At least I don't have to train my 65 years old maid for six months to use the kirby.
My mother loves the kirby and thinks no other vacuum cleaner is better. She lives in a VERY large house with three floors...what did she do?...a kirby g three in the basement, a gSix in the ground floor, and a g5 in the first floor...she's not so crazy to have purchased three kirbies...she just took them out of my collection saying It's better to use them...it would be a tremendous waste to keep them in the collection room!One day I also found her in the living room with phones on her ears (probably listening to the guns&roses to cover that damn noise) massaging herself with the kirby Turbo Sander;-)...Since then i KNOW WHAT SHE'S DOING WHEN i PHONE HER AND SHE DOESN'T ANSWER...

Hello have a look at the translated version of the Vorwerk-Museumprivat: The floor polishers are electric as well as all of the Vorwerk tools. The floor polishers are called Pulilux, pl 510, 511, 512, 515!
