My take on the Dyson Submarine

I really don’t get the trend, people are now too lazy to mop a floor! Riccar has also released their Chinese import copy of this. A quality microfiber mop does the job for me! A machine might be better for tile or slate floors, such as the Lindwash. Not to mention that you have to hold the heavy Dyson in your hand the entire time. I guess they got these “mopping machines” from the ones used in large commercial buildings.

This thing strikes me as a "buy me because I am a Dyson" versus something with real merit. (ie Dyson is betting that their public image alone will sell this product, "hey its a Dyson so its gotta be the best!")
I agree! Both Shark and Dyson are doing this, they have both expanded far past badly designed vacuums. Both companies now sell: Fans, hairdryers, other hair devices, air purifiers, and who knows what will be next! I forgot to mention that Dyson is also an audio company too, with their new headphones. I guarantee people will buy the Dyson headphones over the Bose, because “my Dyson vacuum is the best.” A hairdresser told me that the Dyson hairdryer cannot compete with the cheaper professional hairdryers used in the salons. Perhaps Dyson will start producing small kitchen appliances as well!

They they had a washing machine once in the very early 2000s. It was fairly interesting as it had two drums that would rotate in different directions to scrub the clothes.

This is way off topic though.

I forgot to mention the washing machine! I’ve known that they made one, but I never looked into it. I do know that they weren’t on the market very long, did they sell them in the US?

That's the same marketing angle every car and motorcycle company uses. Buy a Harley because, well, it's a Harley. Pfffftttt. "Porsche, there is no substitute". Remember that line? Ask the Boxter owners who's cars were totaled by the failure of a poorly made intermediate shaft in the engine how they feel about that. Appliances too. Miele is every bit as guilty and their stuff might be as over rated and over priced as Diesoon. Ford vs Checy. Each has their rabid partisans. Brand loyalty is as old as brands.
