Last night at Bed, Bath & Beyond I came upon a returned Miele S2 Olympus that had been marked down from $299 to $74.99. It was cosmetically perfect and missing only the original bag, and with a 20% off coupon and a $5 off $15 coupon (that they weren't supposed to use on new Miele products) on a box of bags, I was out of there for just over $77 including tax. It works great and is a good fit for my 900 square foot house with hardwood, vinyl, tile, and flat commercial carpet, even effective on a 0.375-inch pile area rug.
Now I need to know what to do with the Simplicity Synchrony Premium I bought two years ago on the local vac shop's advice. It's built like a tank and is very effective on bare floors and carpet, but tool airflow's not great (in fact, Consumer Reports' ratings seem spot-on) and it's a bit unwieldy in a small space. There are a few small bumps and the "Simplicity" sticker on the bag cover's kind of peeling, but otherwise it's in great shape -- partly because I don't run it nearly as often as I should. They're rarely offered for resale, so I don't know how to price it or if I should see what the vac shop might repurchase it for.
Advice? Opinions? Thanks in advance.
