"I'm watching my aunt and uncles dogs while they're gone, so I brought my black Silver King to their house. I vacuumed the whole house very thoroughly 2 timed and packed the can full as you can see, and I didn't lose any power at all. They have a Dyson DC17."

It's very nice of you to help out your relatives by vacuuming their home thoroughly. If your aunt and uncle have many dogs and don't vacuum often, it's not surprising that there would be a lot of dirt and dog hair in their rugs. If they have a lot of shedding dogs, it's not surprising that they have a lot of hair in their rugs. Many people hate to vacuum, so they don't do a thorough job.

If you want to accurately compare the cleaning performance of the Dyson versus the Silver King, you've got to design a fair test. The Dyson can only clean if it's turned on. If you want to compare two vacuums fairly, each has to have the same opportunity to prove itself.

It appears that you are a lot more thorough in vacuuming than your Aunt and Uncle. Enjoy your Silver King.

They vacuum several times a week, usually ever 2-3 days. The Dyson's shortcoming isn't in the brushroll department, for some rugs it's brushroll is actually too much. The issue is that is has relatively low airflow, you really need to be moving some air to get the deep down dirt out. The SK simply moved more air than the Dyson. Dyson's have very strong suction but don't always move a high volume of air. The DC23 is one that I know does move a ton of air. I also think the DC07 moves more air. The most powerful upright Dyson's I've seen have all been 07s with the original plastic fan YDK motors, which is what my DC07 has in it too. The 17 uses the same rather wimpy motor as many of the Kenmore canisters made at the same time, I've used the Dyson motors in those Kenmores, so I know it's the same, and I feel it doesn't give great airflow in the Kenmore or Panasonic canisters either. To be hones the only Dyson that ever impressed me with it's cleaning ability is the DC23 motorhead.

I now have a SilverKing Blu Max Air 2000-very powerful beast of a vacuum-almost as much power as my central vacuums.bought the machine from another member here-mine doesn't have the powernozzle.Would love to try it with the Volt powernozzle when they become available.Don't mind the sound of this vacuum-sounds much like one of my central machines.Good, high quality machine.Too bad they went under. Was online adn did read some complaints gainst the company-much like any other DTD vacuum company.I am looking for sources of the filters-or make them from filtrte vacuum bags. The filters I have with mine are a thick Filtrete type material-about the same as the thick material the bags for one of my NuTone central units are made from. Also hoses from older TriStars will fit this vacuum. So you have hose options.

I have a mint green Silver King AE.

It's a decent vacuum. The suction on it is great. I found that my plastic Compact hose fits it, so I can use tools with it. I made a new filter out of a HEPA bag to sit OVER the paper filter. It filters much better now and has better airflow and suction. I'm thinking of getting the Volt at some point too, just not soon.
