overview of all Australasian vacuums

In Australasia we really do have a mixed bag of machines, mostly cylinders with some uprights. I will start with hoover as an example. We got identical machines to the UK for the most part with some differences. I have a junior u1346a, hooverette 2944a, junior u1104, 2x constellations ( forgot the model, I will check later), dustette model 100, 262 cleaning ensemble. The Connie is of the tilted variety and has a 650 watt model, the main difference is that it has a large open top reusable bag (pictures to come). The differences really started in the eighties with the turbopower range. My hoover duet deluxe is a top of the range turbopower with on-board tools, just take off the bag check indicator and make it with. Then there is the mystery convertible deluxe which is basically the same as the duet deluxe except it does not have tools on-board and has a five position height adjustment, this model is red. The lark was basically the same as the British junior so does not need much explanation. Then there is the breeze, there is a video of it on YouTube though I simply can not find it again. In Australia they got the dial-a-matic as the dynamatic and the British senior models (from what I know) as the convertible. In New Zealand we only got the Hoover lark models as our uprights until the 80s, though we did get other hoover cylinders and machines. Electrolux machines were similar in Australia and New Zealand except for the 70s from what I can tell. I am not sure about Australia, but in NZ we got the kirby heritage 2 legend as our first kirby in 1988. The price for a current model Kirby with all the extras is $4995 NZD. That is a similar price to a 2008 Honda jazz. One popular brand in Australia and probably the first or second most popular brand in NZ, Tellus. Tellus was the brand we got the Nilfisk gs/gm80 under. I have not seen any machines marked Tellus gs or gm90 so I think we got the tellus gs80/gm80 turbo and the Nilfisk gm90/gs90 allervac. If anyone knows the correlation between Tellus and Nilfisk I would love to hear it. The Tellus removable motor pods have Nilfisk branding on them which is questionable. My other Tellus machines are my gs82 dual motor industrial machine, s55 and big blue central vacuum. The big blue central vacuum has a large open top bag on one side and a tall rectangular box with the back removable next to the cylinder with the bag. The unit has two 5.7 inch 3 stage motors mounted horizontally in the box. I have heard a story from an uncle that worked with chimneys, he said that in animal processing plants the 2 or 3 motor Tellus machines would be used to suck up anything and everything including water, milk (vegan/vegetarian warning) animal guts. These machines are not wet/dry machines. Apparently even under these conditions these machines would be up to 20-30 years old. My S55 made it's way from Auckland down to me, the guy said that he found two under his house and this was the better one of the two. Recently I got a cable that is compatible and it works great. I have seen a few museums listing them as being from the 30s, though I think it could also be from the 40s/50s. Help would be appreciated here. I have found that vacuum doctor Australia still shows archives of all/most retired models. I also have a filter queen (standard US model) and a environment conet. Environment conet's are fairly common here, I have two. We did get the Amway uprights, though I have only seen CMS 2000's. Our first import of dyson's was in 1997, they were fairly popular cleaners. I have a dc02 clear from the first import into NZ. We had the brand name pye which was mainly Hitachi cylinders McDonald electric uprights and heavily modified eureka rotovac's. I have heard that at some point we got a power nozzle Miele complete c3 in NZ. I know we got the oreck machines at some point, cause I have one. Vac machines were quite popular in the 80s, 90s and 00s. I have a 2000 2x 121's and did have a V10 or v11. We got some machines sold as the kambrook jaguar. They were bagged cylinder machines sold in the 00s/ 2010s.
