Seeing as this has been spoken of in the Junior forum... Abandoned houses!!

The old Mercy Hospital has been vacant since around 2002; now its been a "prime target" for homeless people, juvenile troublemakers/gangs & drug dealers. Despite the poor shape, many folks want to keep the building standing. I haven't got to see inside for any "treasures" because police are patroling the area & the building is now owned by city

The abandoned hospital would be sort of interesting and "creepy" to explore. If the building is owned by the city and patroled-it may not really be considered "abandoned".I think of an abandoned place is one with no true owner-and it is not patroled or monitored.

Is that hospital

in Knoxville?

I remember I think it was called "Baptist Medical Center" (and the name later changed) but it went under and has been abandoned for years. Going across the bridge you get this view of this massive hospital. The first time I saw it I was shocked at how large it was......anyway, here is a pic. You may be speaking of an entirely different abandoned hospital.

To revive an old thread,

I went back to that house to take some pictures with a friend, ended up exploring it again. YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT!

If you thought the power being on was odd, wait until you see the last thing!

Firstly, I saw the calender ended November 23rd, 2001. Now I have a date! this adds hope to my theory of the house being used for storage, it's still crammed full of stuff! Secondly, some city workers have dealt with the fallen tree, and hauled off everything on the front patio (Busting a bag of ancient cat litter in the process, ha!) I noticed the patio when I went back to lock the door.

So, 2001, and guess what? The fridge in the Kitchen, WAS STILL TURNED ON AND RUNNING!

I have the same fridge in beige too, a G-E! I couldn't believe it! I heard something running, then notice it came from the fridge! I unplugged it for safety, didn't want it to short out and reek havoc. there's a bunch of brand new stuff there, too, including 3 new old 35 mil. cameras, flamingos, coffee makers, yay!

I would really love to buy this house some day, I'm simply in love with it!

That fridge still  has me on edge, though! to plug or not to plug... I just can't believe it's been running straight for 13 years!

here's the house:

It seems like someone would have to be paying the electricity bill for it to be on, usually of it goes unpaid for a month or so, it gets shut off. Maybe someone is actually living there! I don't doubt the refrigerator has run for 13 years though, they don't usually require much maintenance. I'd personally just find the fuse box and pull the main fuse/breaker.

I found the fuse box,

But it was behind 2 doors that wouldn't budge for all the crap in the floor, so unplugging was the next best thing!

In the abandoned and unused places near me the power meters have been removed-no power or other utilities.I will have to look at the long abandoned home in the other neighborhood to see whats up.There isn't too many abandoned places near me.Look on YouTube and esp look up "AdamThe Woo","Unknown Cameraman,""and "Decay Is Headed Yoyr Way" These explore LOTS of abandoned places-quite interesting-that could be a hobby on its own!Equipment could be quite minimal-A good camera, and old clothes. And of course some sort of respirator-filter mask-esp in those places with mold.
