I like Costco, definitely prefer it to Sam's Club, but being a single person, I rarely need things in the quantities/sizes in which they sell them. We've had Lidl here for a couple of years, and I've come to like that store a lot, although their selections are often limited.

Yeah. Somehow, I overlooked Costco and BJ's Wholesale. We have both of those too.
I would say I didn't think of them because they're not strictly grocery stores. But...neither is Walmart.

We have Costco and Sam’s Club here in Florida, although not any near me. I did visit one or the other once, though I can’t recall which, but it was about 16 years ago already (!) and I don’t remember where it was.

I also visited a Target once in Port Charlotte, but we don’t have one of those in my area, either.

I reply: Some Walmarts are strictly grocery stores. They go under the name Walmart Neighborhood Market. We've got a couple of them here. They carry mostly groceries with a very limited selection of general merchandise, no more than you would find at any other supermarket, and some have pharmacies.

Huh. Interesting, Edgar. Never too old to learn something!
I was only referring to our local Walmart stores. As far as I know, we don't have any of the Neighborhood Markets around here. Of course, for going on about five years now, I don't get out and about like I used to.

It seems that maybe Aldi will continue to operate Winn Dixie stores even after some stores convert to Aldi according to this:

“ “ALDI will operate Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores with the same level of care and focus on quality and service, as we also evaluate which locations will convert to the ALDI format to better support the neighborhoods we’ll now have the privilege of serving,” added Hart. “For those stores we do not convert, our intention is that these continue to operate as Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores.”

We do have some of those Walmart Neighborhood markets here in Florida, but I haven’t seen any in my area.
