Well our first glimpses of the European sebo X7 are coming in. As we all know that European Union has imposed strict motor regulations. Very interested to see what the US version looks like.

Hmm...

Perhaps i was a bit hasty to judge it, i've heard of it before and wrote it off as an x4 with a new skin. Seeing the kapok effected by it's airflow in the video, i'm now rather curious as to how it compares. The X4/essential G line does not impress me.

@blackheart I don't know how much time you spent with the machine? But every time I use an X4 or X5 I get more and more impressed with the machine. I'm a big fan of the Felix as well. They have good air flow and clean more than adequately for most situations .

In truth i have not spent much time with the X4 but I did own a Windsor Sensor S12, which was basically a G1 more or less a manual adjustment X4 and that machine, while it had some nice features, was rather dissapointing in terms of performance. The shop i work at is a former sebo dealer, we have a few left over X4s and i've tried them and i'm not impressed, the Miele uprights clean circles around them. I've considered purchasing one but i just can't justify the cost when i feel it's carpet cleaning performance is so meh.

I do currently have an ice blue Felix 1 and an Onyx D4 both of those are much better performers

SEBO X7 EU

The new SEBO X7 is a complete new design to give their Upright a fresh updated look with echos of the E series for example the crease down the bag door like on top of the E series. The base/ chassis of the new X7 is a complete new redesign. It’s been redesigned to fit the new motor (890 watts) and sound proofing not to mention new electrical components and a new post motor filter to meet the new EU regulations. The post motor filter is a smaller version l8ke the E series. There are a few things that the X7 share with the X4 which are:
1. Uses the same bags
2. Uses the same pre motor filter
3. Uses the same brush roll
4. Uses the same hose and wand
5. Uses th3 same tools....crevice, upholstery tool
5. Uses the same handle

Some of the models will have an LED head liight and Pet version the boost button. There are other updates to the foot release petal, the metal fron5 soleplate runs the full width of the head like the ET heads do.

I believe the X7 will replace the X4 completely not just in the EU! Not sure if the Felix will get an update or the ET Powerheads! At present the Felix meets the new EU regulations.

Why do Sebo not listen to it's customers? I just cannot understand why they haven't fitted a brushroll on/off button so it can be used on hardfloors. Ok it looks a bit more stylish than the X4 series but it's basically the same machine.

Very disappointing. If they had added a brushroll on/off button I would have purchased one.

Clear Sebo X4

I sold the Sebo X4 when they had the clear models available. Was never impressed with their cleaning ability, and I cursed their short hose. They do hold up in the hands of cleaning ladies, but they leave the carpet kind of like an old Bissell bagless leaves the carpet. Tidy, but ultimately not all that clean.

@sebo4me that's the place of the Felix and the 370 which they're trying to push as their top end cleaner now. The purpose of the X models only have one control and that is to turn the machine on and off and the rest of it run automatically. But I would love to see an automatic brush roller on and off similar to what Hoover has started doing on some models but of course higher-quality.

In order to have a brush on-off function in these vacuums it would have to be dual motor or have a clutch in the brushroll-these are single motor machines.I have the clear Sebo X4-it is kinda fun to watch the nozzle up down function while the vacuum is working.You have to be REALLY friendly with your dealer to get one.Normally the clears aren't sold to customers-they are for dealer demos.With these Sebos if the machine stays still --the nozzle automatically adjusts to its max height with hope the brush won't hit the floor as with hose use.

It would of been nice to see a brush roll on/off button but as mentioned the automatic X is a switch on and go vacuum making it simple for the user/owner to use! By adding this it would in SEBO eyes complicate the machine setup! You never know future versions of the X may feature that function but SEBO like to keep things less complex where they can!

You have to remember SEBO are still a small family owned and run vacuum manufacturer compared to other larger floorcare companies! There main market area is commercial too although the domestic side is becoming more popular, in the UK for sure! SEBO are not ones for making radical and regular changes to their machines. Their usual evolutionary changes/iterations of the previous model like you see in the new X7 compared to the X4. The X machine is SEBO longest and most successful domestic upright model so major changes wouldn’t have been on the agenda I wouldn’t of thought!

Although it may look to many the same machine as it does share some of the same parts to the X4 as I mentioned above it’s actually a complete new machine under the hood. The chassis is completely new to house the new motor, sound proofing and new post motor filter and all new electrical components from what I have been told.

Small company-that's whats is good here-they don't make major changes unless they have to or if it really improves the vacuums.Otherwise they stick with what WORKS!Will ask the Sebo dealer here when the X7 will be available.

That’s totally true tolivac, that’s what SEBO is all about! If it’s not broke don’t fix it as the saying goes! Be interesting to hear when the X7 will be available for you!

I have a x4 and again like many have said I have never been very impressed with its cleaning ability, Now the G1 with its manual height adjustment does a much better job, The problem is that the electronic height adjustment is constantly fiddling and never gets close enough to properly clean,
I dont like the short hose but do love the wand.
Again as said above Short of a Royal not much will last as long in cleaning ladys hands.
I co own a cleaning company and we have a few G1's and some x4's. I always disconnect the auto height on the x4's and set the height myself and leave it their. I love their ease of maintenance, brushes change in a instant and so does the cord handle assy , I keep some spare and fix the cord on the broken ones but when we get the call a machines cord is broken its so simple to fix, less down time.

I will say that the thing I like the most about them is the lack of complaints from customers, These are very quiet vacuums. If it were us up to me all the staff would be using Royals, I love them their power their durability and how purposeful they look on sight but that said I have head helicopters that are quieter.

In the cleaning business with offices your biggest complaint is noisy vacuums The sebo never gets complaints,

To give you an idea of the quality I have two sebo 360's They are 30 years old now and still runn every day, One just got a new motor , Its first new motor and that was because the Com on the armiture had worn away from all the use, I always just changed the carbon brushes but finally 30 years on a new motor was needed .

I've noticed a lot of vacuum in the factors are selling rebuilt vacuums to get around the regulations.

Looks like a rebadged Commercial Windsor sensor vacuum. I have used them. Not impressive machines to me.

An "A" rating for dust filtration. A "D" rating for carpet cleaning. Seriously!!!!! Oh sign me up I want to throw a way a bank roll on this. And the automatic height adjustment fails miserably to keep pace with how fast you can push and pull it across the floor. It determines the "proper height" based on the load on the agitator. So there is never a tight seal to the surface being cleaned. Which explains the "D" rating for carpet cleaning.

Umm a Dyson Light Ball gets a 'C' rating for carpet. Shouldn't you be asking why a Dyson doesn't get an 'A' for the claims they make about their 'wonderful technology'?

Also, the X7 has a different programming sequence and adjust itself with different logic. It does not work in the same way as their previous models did with their heads going to and down continuously. You also forgot to mention the X4 Boost models get a 'B' rating on carpet. The same will be on the X7 Boost models obviously.

It's strange that despite all these imrovements, the dust pick up from carpets is a D rating compared to the X1.1 which gets a C and why should a consumer have to pay £100 more for a boost model to get a better carpet cleaning score. Another backward step on the X7 is the lack of a handle lock that enabled the user to lift the head up while vacuuming to get onto a rug. Now you have to put the cleaner fully into the upright position and tilt it back.

Agreed. For every step forwards, there's two steps backwards.

The 45 degree handle lock is the most user-friendly feature in a decent upright. One-handed operation of negotiating carpet fringes, area rug edges and doorway threshold strips - simply by pushing down on the handle, pivoting the head on its rear wheels, allowing the front of the machine to clear the obstacle.

The X4 had a user-switchable feature and thus was suitable for both the people who like the handle lock, and the folk who like constant fluid motion.

Who's the bloody idiot who decided to remove the feature?

That video was interesting, I think the X7 kind of sounds like a dirty air machine such as a Kirby or Royal. It's a clean air design of course but the sound kind of reminds me of those dirty air machines. We don't have the same power restrictions in the United States so it will be interesting to see what the X7 uses if it becomes available here. I have no interest in getting one since I'm a canister only person, but if I had to have an upright I would probably choose the Sebo felix.
