Sebo X4

Sebo fan just got an email from Sebo UK. They told me the F rating is down to the carbon dust produced by the motor which they say is non allergic.I thought that might have been the reason. :-)

When the S class or HEPA filter is placed before the motor it gives excellent protection to the motor ensuring a long life but the exhaust filter is not very efficient and as a result the carbon dust produced by the motor brushes will escape from the machine. This is the reason for the F rating of the X4

To be honest I don't believe that

Frankly I don't care.

Furthermore, that's what SEBO UK told me when I enquired about yellow filters. I thought the HEPA filter was all new and something that was coming to the UK. That and the clear acrylic made SEBO X4 is produced in the U.S, which is also not available to buy in the EU

As for the exhaust filter, thanks for letting me know Marcus. SEBO UK also emailed about it and mentioned that though the rating is high, the carbon emissions are not harmful.

Sebo X4 exhaust filter

I am very surprised that it is yellow sponge foam.

I'm afraid that at the very least, I was expecting an electrostatic type of fleece: of the type fitted to Dyson DC01, Panasonic MC-E43, Electrolux Airstream and Hoover Turbopower 2 & 3

Altogether, very strange.

Thing is though, from memory with my TP2 models, the carbon that used to get onto those microfilter cloth bits were only half of the carbon that came off the motor. The X has a different design where most of the carbon is contained on that foam sponge alone.

SEBO may well have found that the sponge filter is more of a non-porous type filter, though it eventually turns black on both sides. I don't know. Best to email them to find the correct solution.
