Sebo X4

Just been looking on the Sebo website and I noticed that the new ratings give the Sebo X4 an F for filtration.
How can this be? If it has S class filtration surely it should have an A rating? Who a actually does these ratings?

The home company are responsible for the ratings and at the moment i don't think the ratings are all that clear; the X4 in Germany is rated at F presently for the emissions/filtration. Only time can tell when the ratings may improve.

Could it be that the exhaust filter is not S class and carbon dust produced by the motor will escape from the machine?

Miele with HEPA filtration is rated A, Dyson with HEPA also rated A, Sebo with S class filtration rated F. I just don't get it unless the filtration is not as food as we are lead to believe?

I found the video of the filtration also and there is a video of Dysons filtration but it's a really old model personally thanks for all the ratings are right I definitely agree with the filtration I never fought it was that good Bought it used to be good to what they used to say now I have seen this it leads me to wonder

All I am going to say is wait and see.

Unlike other brands, SEBO are a private company and they are slow to release new updates.

By the way it is the brands who make up the ratings for performance, efficiency etc - NOT the EU. So those ratings are something I just don't actually believe in half the time.

That doesn't look good. But how come the British allergy foundation approve Sebo and I think a company in Germany gave them an S class rating?

The ratings should be independent and accurate or what's the point. Consumers will just be getting false and misleading information. If you're an allergy sufferer that could be quite serious!

Yes they should be accurate but thats the trouble with the EU rating labels in general - they're not exactly accurate and often causes confusion for buyers, even with larger appliances like washing machines and plenty of other appliances that have to carry then by law.

It has only been three weeks since SEBO updated their site in the UK with the new Eco models Marcus - I think you are being highly unfair. Other brands have the same problem where their ratings don't quite add up.

Also the X has a carbon filter by the motor, so I would imagine that's not where the emissions rating has been taken from. On the basis that the air flows outside of the bag's design on the SEBO and hasn't been updated, the S class filtration and indeed HEPA filtration is far older than the emissions testing process developed by the EU. You have to understand that, surely?

Again with the BAF approval - that was implemented well before ALL of the ratings applied by the new EU law.

I don't understand how a vacuum cleaner with an S class standard which is an extremely high standard can get an F in the new rating it doesn't make sense to me.If you look at the Felix pet they give it an A rating buy the other Felix models have a C rating. They all have the same exhaust filter!
They might as well just scrap the new ratings all together!!!

I don't understand what you mean by updating. An emissions test is carried out if the emissions are very low they get an A rating if they are very high they get a G rating.Once the test is done it's done what is there to update?
I just want consumers to be given accurate information on all these products from all manufacturers so consumers can make an informed choice.

I don't understand it either but the Felix I've used has been great with trapping particles.

The X machine only has a sponge after the motor. It might be best you speak to Sebo Germany to ask them for more details. Would be interesting to know.

You don't seem to understand, Marcus - the testing is done by the brands themselves. SEBO are currently updating their ranges and they won't be happy with the ratings that they've found. Rest assured in time they will update the filtration on the SEBO to gain a higher reading. They're not one to back down on data!

Take the example of my Electrolux/Zanussi Airspeed Lite. It gets a C rating for hard floor cleaning - well not by my standards. I'd give it an B - it picks up better and also picked up cat pellets where the X failed to do. I don't agree with the ratings that have been applied - but updating the vacuums in time to reflect better ratings are being done by plenty of brands at the moment.

You may want customers to get accurate readings, but in all honesty these EU labels are not accurate at all.

Another example: Miele cylinder vacs - the old S6 versus the S2 model. S2 has 700 watts, the S6 has 800 watts. Quite surprised on the "ratings" given here.

Over to SEBO where the ratings for the K series, a far older vacuum compared to Miele's vacs get slightly better readings and the K3 Premium Eco has the ET-1 power nozzle.

Well if it leads to manufaturers making improvements then thats a good thing. Hopefully we will see Sebo achieve A ratings in the future. I hope so because they are my favourite brand, with Miele a close 2nd.

X Series Filters

I wonder why the Hepa class filter for the X series hasn't been marketed over here although it's been available in the US for ages.....
Any ideas Sebo_fan?

SEBO tried it in the UK but found the HEPA filter to leak in tests; in Germany they have sold it but the German company also found it to be inferior. Seems to have been a part that was asked for in the U.S. Mind you there's nothing to stop you from ordering it in from the U.S

To be honest I really don't believe that.

If the HEPA filter leaked it was poorly designed. Miele's HEPA filter is excellent! S class standard is just as good as HEPA removing 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns.
