Sebo Felix, how does it compare?

Didn't understand why the Sebo Felix pet got an A rating for dust emissions and the other models got a C. Now I understand. The Felix Pet has a new thicker F9 exhaust filter it also gives better sound proofing so the Felix which was already quiet is even more quiet now.

I know some think the new ratings are rubbish and with some manufacturers I'd agree but Sebo look spot on with their ratings.

I gave into temptation, and bought the ice blue model. It was 225 and had free shipping *shrugs*. It should be here on tuesday so i'll be doing some head to head comparisons to see exactly how it stacks up.

Oh thats great news, blackheart!

The beauty of mostly all the Felix models are that you can mix and match exhaust covers.

For example, my "Navy" Felix was purchased but came with a damaged navy filter. SEBO at the time sent out an Ice Blue one for free and in time I changed it back to the Navy filter.

Now it carries the old Pet exhaust filter which seems to go well with the white model. The Pet filter isn't actually black but rather navy blue with silver through it; matches the silver colour hose on board.

On impulse when going through EBay UK one day I noted an ET1 black Pet head going for sale - and it was pretty cheap too. Thats the one I use for "DIY and gardening tasks" lol - and swapped over the silver dial to add to my Felix "indoors ET1" floor head. Again it all matches.

Yes good idea. Wish Sebo UK included the E3 model which comes without the PN cause I could have used my Felix PN with it and saved some money being a tight arse!

Hi Marcus,

You won't notice any difference in sound level with the F9 filter. It's thicker but does nothing for sound suppression.

but it seems to be an older model because it's lacking the speed control and the telescoping handle which is really dissapointing to me. Is it possible to change the handles over to the new style with the speed control or would it require far more than just that?

Anyhow performance wise it's currently pulling a 5.5 on the baird meter, with a new bag which is pretty good

It took 3 strokes (3 forward + 3 back) to remove all visible pink sand from a rug. It almost had it in 2 but there was still a little remaining.

It's post motor filter is black and currently in the washer due to there not being replacement ones available in the area, i will be purchashing a new one though.

So...how does it compare? It is hands down the best Sebo vacuum i have used. the airflow is far superior to the windsor versamatic, Sensor S12, and Sebo 370 i have owned. The 370 would pull a 2 max, the Felix pulls a 5.5

Compared to the miele S7, it's lighter, has more airflow (5.5 vs 3.5) which i'm guessing is due to a much simpler airpath, and it cleans better (3 strokes vs 4)

Ah… the U.S may well have got the basic models when the Felix first got launched there.

In the UK, the Felix has always come with 3 height position height and variable suction control.

What you effectively have is the commercial models we get in the UK, but if the Felix has a brush roll on/off on the floor head, then obviously its the domestic U.S market model.

The variable speed control is on a handle which is screwed into the body of the machine. I dont think they are interchangeable without a donor machine. You're not missing much on the telescoping handle though unless you are short for space.

I have had mine since 2009 and do like the machine.It does deep clean the carpets and is so versital and easy to handle.The filteration is excellent for those of us who have allergies and asthma.I would buy another one.It gets serviced once a year at our Sebo dealer.I have all the filters changed once a year.Yes,the filter bags need changing a little more often,but,the box has at least a dozen in them.I prefer
the tan bags,they are more square and seem to hold more dirt.I have all the tools from the roto brush to the parquet,I feel it's a good buy and a well manufactured
quality machine.

It is indeed quite old, i called Sebo to see if it could be upgraded, and i was told that all parts except for the motor would need to be swapped out. They were produced in 2006 for a short period as kind of a trial run to see if people would like them.


Seeing as it cannot be upraded i will not be keeping it, i like it so far but that variable speed would be a wonderful feature.

Check to see if the U.S got the Felix 4 model - this was a variable speed upright that had the Kombi suction floor tool fitted as standard. That way if there is one available, you could swap over the floor heads.

That stinks blackheart. Didn't know they had some that didn't have the variable speed.

I just wish the bags were a little bigger. I'll see what happens next week, but it looks like I'll use one bag per my 3 apt hallways I clean. Normally it would mean emptying the hoover windtunnel air canister 3 times. But I hate that thing, as the seal on the bottom would squeal due to a speck of sand being in btw.

Noticed by the time the bag indicator goes to about a quarter, suction is diminished a bit. Buy the time it is half full, it is just about time to change.

Love to say I told you so. It is a better machine than the S7. It is an all rounder, like a VW Golf. It can do it all and suits most people. Love my Felix. You can wash those post motor filters despite what some will say. It doesn't effect it at all, although it is good to change them form time to time, to change the design of them if you get bored !

We use a certain degreaser that is sold at sams under their members mark brand but is made by Ecolab. On it, it says it can remove carbon build up. Now, I won't try it on my current filter until I replace it, but it probably could remove that last bit of build up on it.

Looking forward to the eco model in the states, though no news about it yet.
