Sebo Felix, how does it compare?

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

The "Sensor G" I have in the UK is a commercial SM2 which has the longer brush roll and 4 manual height settings. I believe its length gives better pick up. Any better and my thick wool carpets will be utterly destroyed!

Dont forget though the Felix swivels, so in effect you'll get a quicker vacuum to clean up. Sounds like you made up your mind well before though - given that the price you saw online for that auction listing puts the Felix into a far cheaper cost efffective product than buying brand new.

Certainly if I was a collector, I'd buy the Felix for that sole reason.

I'd be very surprised if you were disappointed with the performance of the Felix.

If you want the VERY deapest clean you'd have to look at a Direct air or Tandem Air cleaner.

Put it this way. I have a Bissell big green carpet washer and it is excellent. I have had it for a few years now and before I had my felix, it would always get up gritty sand, clump of dead pile and pet hair. Since using the felix, the Bissell picks up nothing more than dirty water, so the felix must be doing an excellent job at cleaning my carpets. Most of my carpets are very thick and heavy, which I prefer as it makes a room quitter and helps with heat insulation, not only that they are just more comfortable, but obviously dense piled carpets pose more of a challenge to a vacuum than medium to low piled carpet typically, and the felix works very well on all of them. I suggest you try both machines out before you make a decision however, see what you personally like.

Looking through your list of cleaners you already have some fantastic machines. There's a number there that i'd love to own :)

You already have the deepest cleaners. Kirby, Royal, Riccar Radiance and some other very nice machines. Lindhaus healthcare pro, Rainbow, TriStar etc It seems you already have the best but would be good to have a Sebo in your collection.:-)[this post was last edited: 3/2/2015-09:29]

olive

How often do you vacuum?
And yes Mark I do not lack in deep cleaning machines.

I may stop by the Shop after work, they are a sebo dealer and have a floor model felix. I'll ask him a few things, maybe do a sand test.

The Felix was my current daily driver until I took delivery of the SM2. Now the Felix is taken to one other church I have also signed up to do cleaning with - for free - just one other advantage of being a congregational member and someone who isn't over the age of 60 lol.

Infact the ladies who have used the Felix adore the fact that it can be dropped to the floor for cleaning the hard wood floor in between the pews on setting 1. The short hose comes into its own for cleaning the carpeted pew seats and I've since added the turbo brush at the front so that they can turbo clean the pews even faster.

There's a lot to love about the Felix, but very little to complain about. The only thing I wish mine had was a bigger dust bag capacity - but when it is used at my home and at the church, it is no wonder!

Its a real pity infact, that my X1 Automatic barely gets used these days. Sometimes when I have all the time in the world I go around my home with the X1A. I still love its auto adjustment though it is easy to say this if you own the auto model, the one with manual height adjustment AND a Felix. I also owned the Dart model for awhile but sold it to a nearby shop. It is a far more basic version of the Felix (like the Axxcess by Windsor) and runs hot and high all the time due to the fixed non-variable suction control.

Okay...

I decided to just bite the bullet and put a bid on it. I was looking at getting an ET-1 head for either my silver king or Filter magic so if i don't like the vacuum itself i figure i can just attach the adaptor *shrugs* That is, if i do win the auction.

Weird how ebay works Blackheart? That vacuum went for $229, then $209, then $179, but no one cared until you bidded on it.

Do what I do, don't bid on it until the last ten seconds. Bidding for whatever reason attracks competition.

I bought my felix new about 2 years ago and have had mixed feelings about it since.

The good
It cleans well
Its suction is good when the bag is empty
The brush is awesome at groomin carpets
Although not as good as others its swivel nick is a nice touch.

The Bad
The hose is a Joke , who at sebo thought this nasty cheap hose was a good idea, Considering what a great hose the x series had I cannot comprehend what they were thinking. and then it doesn't have a extension pipe either.
Despite it costing more than any of its competition that all have hepa filtration it did not come with it.
Despite me at the advice of Sebofan fitting a charcoal filter it still stinks of dog after a few uses with a new bag.
Its stores indoors in a cool dry environment away from light but it has still turned yellow on some of the white parts.
As the bag fills it looses suction like no other Modern bagged vacuum I have seen including other sebo's. You can actually feel a difference.

The hard floor tool it came with its very nice but you have to lean the machine against something when you are moving furniture and its top heavy so it falls and breaks.

Its a nice machine but not worth anywere near what I paid for it. Maybee not even half of that

I lost

I put a bid on it of 220 before I went to bed, and it went for 222. I usually prefer to put my bids in near the end but it was ending about 3 to 4 hours after I was to go to bed so... I do see there's an ice blue model for 225 but if I don't like the vac the white head wouldn't go too well with the filter magic.

I agree about the hose, it's not great. You can get an extension hose though.

The filtration is supposed to be S class which is very close to HEPA. I think 99.9% down to 0.3 microns. And yes the bag will smell after a while but most bags do I find, none more than Kirby! Ych a fi! :-)

Can't say I've noticed a big drop in suction as the bag fills, there will be some of course. Maybe the design of the X series with the tall pre motor filter is better in this respect.

But anyway there are pros and cons with every cleaner :-)

I'll tell you why bidding attracts competion

Because the seller, his friends and sometimes relatives creates accounts to edge the bids up on interested buyers.

I know of at least one ebay seller that does this, so I would not e surprised as often as this phenomenon appears that someone else isn't doing it as well.

I checked Ebay.com last night - there are quite a few Felix models on there, including a lovely looking red Rosso model. It seems to come with two long extension straight suction tubes - a factor that gsheen has pointed out.

It does pain me to point out that the SEBO Felix is NOT a large home upright vacuum - the Felix hose when stretched out does offer 3 metres same as the X series in my experience and you do have to hold each upright when the hose is used.

In the UK the Felix was never any more expensive the X series, if only slightly cheaper.

Now with eco models tagged on, cost prices for the Felix still vary but due to popular demand, they do appear to be more the expensive to buy than the SEBO X1.1 and SEBO X4.

Clearly this is not the case in every other country though it would stand to reason for it being cheaper based on the bag capacity alone.

I think that as well......

I have thought for some time that if you bid on an item it just attracts other bidders. I wait until the last and put my absolute highest I am willing to pay. Have won some and lost some that way......

If you review the bidding, there are ebayer accounts that have zero feedback, that continually bid on an item, even before there is a first bid sometimes.....????????

I like ebay, and I actually like the Buy It Now options, especially if it is something you really want......

Just my 2 cents,

I think you're correct in saying bids only serve to attract other bidders, rather than it being shill activity. Sometimes I get the impression people start panicking when they see someone else has an eye on "their" item, and that's when a bidding war starts. Not cool if you're buying (that's when I drop out, another one will always come up), but as a seller I won't complain if it happens. Many a time I've sold used items at more than retail because bidders got carried away and just had to outdo each other.

I love EBAY

And I am not saying that everyone does this, but I do know of sellers that do edge up the bids.

I have started putting the item I am interested in on my watch list and only bidding towards the end. If someone else hits it first with a higher bid, then it wasn't meant to be because I have a set amount that I will go. I did kick myself the other day I was bidding on a New Miele Salsa. I increased my bids a few times, but dropped out at $301. The item sold for $306. I console myself that if I had bid $310, they would have probably gone to $320; so I was best at stopping at my predetermined point.

I have been loving the As Is, Salvage, Store returns sales lately. I can put in a handle screw and attach the belt for the discount these items are going for. Even If I don't want the machine myself, makes great gifts.

SEBO Felix Filter

In the UK. The Pet models now feature am upgraded F9 filter which consists of a thicker material.

Please see link below. F9 filter already improves on the great filtration the machine already has. Though I think people do get a little too concerned about filters etc. In the 70s and 80s people managed just fine with standard filters and when we leave out amazingly 'clean' homes we are then exposed to pollutants anyway.
