So there's a used Felix on ebay i've been looking at which is in the 200-300 range. I'm unsure about buying it though as i've been pretty dissapointed with the performance of some of their other machines. So i'm curious how does the Felix compare to the Miele S7 and other high end uprights purely in terms of cleaning performance?

The Miele S7 is slightly better when it comes to deep cleaning medium pile carpeting according to Consumer Reports. It also has better airflow through the hose for above-the-floor cleaning and is quieter. The S7 comes with a longer cord (40ft vs. 31ft), but is heavier to carry (22lbs vs. 16lbs).

Every S7 model except the BOL Twist comes with a headlight which you don't get with the Felix.

It is a fantastic vacuum and a great all rounder. Don't know what SEBO models you have been trying but they sue SEBOs in Buckingham Palace, White house as well as schools, hospitals and hotels around the world.

The felix is nice to sue, great build quality, fantastic performance eon carpets. The automatic SEBO's don't dig into the carpet as much as the manual adjustable sebos, which the felix is.

more airflow through the hose huh?

That's dissapointing to hear, the most i've seen a miele S7 pull on the baird guage is about 3-3.5 on the smooth setting

As for the models i've had i had a windsor Sensor S12 (manual adjustment similar to the G1 and a 370.

I was gonna say. I have had the S7 and really was not impressed. Very heavy, awkward to manoeuvre, very expensive parts. Brushrolls are in excess of £70 here in the UK versus less than £20 for a felix. I found the S7 didn't deep clean nor groom my carpets as well as the felix.

The build quality Is also questionable. A lot of the plastic feel less than substantial on the S7 and replacing the brushrool is a nightmare they are just not easy to repair or maintain.

Felix

In my experience, the Felix is a different kind of vacuum from the Miele.  It is lighter, easier to maneuver, more versatile.  The ability to switch cleaner heads is really nice.  If deep cleaning carpets are the main goal, then it may not be the best first choice, but when set on the proper height it does a good job grooming medium pile wool rugs, ( from personal experience ).  It is an easy vac to use and I have enjoyed owning mine.  I would buy it again.

The Felix is one if the best all round bagged uprights you can get in terms of performance versatility build quality and reliability. It is also cheap to run. It cleans very well OK it won't match the performance of a Kirby but it cleans deep enough for me!

If I were in the US the only other upright I would consider would be the Riccar tandem air machines but they are more expensive. But I highly recommend the Felix.

Only problem with the Felix's on ebay is most don't come with all the attachments that come with a new one, like the parquet brush. Of course you do save a lot.

One right now is going for $209 with a black body but the person put on a ice blue filter.

Also have used the Windsor Axcess, works well and pulls very well (Sebo Dart or Felix for commericial).

One thing I don't like about them is the lack of any way to carry an extra hose on the body and the ease of the normal uprights extension tube. Also puts out a lot of heat. But if the eco model makes it over here the heat will be a non issue (courtesy of olive's review, thanks).

well....

We do have a thicker carpet in the main areas of the house which makes me think the felix may not be a good match for me.

Joe- the black one is/was the one I was watching I like the color of it, which model do you have how much would you be asking and why are you parting with it? I'm still uncertain about getting a felix but I'll ask just in case.

I have one inch thick carpets, my hall and living room very dense and heavy, and the felix is the only vacuum I have used that properly grooms them. The S7 used to bunny hop over them.

Well black hart since the black one just got reduced to $179 I'd try for that, cause I rarely see them below $350. Cheapest I've ever been able to try for them was $160, but was outbidded.

But oddly enough they stuck an ice blue filter on it instead of the black one, and it looks very odd.

(Side note, I'd probably use the Rosso one on my ice blue machine.)

Only read of one complaint that even at level 4 that it still was hard to push, but I don't really believe that. Others can chime in.

One inch thick carpets! You'd better not ever invite Mickey Rooney over or you'll never be able to find him.

Check out the link below where I took part of that quote from.

Whilst I agree with a lot of what has been said, I do agree with "CC" as the Felix is very different from your usual upright vac design. Running costs are lower with any SEBO model over Miele for starters. You get more dust bags in one box compared to Miele. The only advantage that the Miele has apart from its bells and whistles is the larger bag capacity - but you'd be better off with a SEBO G1/G2 if you want similar; you just lose out on variable suction, brush roll on/off and that headlight.

But then you get greater build quality and a slightly lighter feel compared to the much more bulkier Miele S7.

The Felix does have that brush roll on/off which makes it more unique with the SEBO uprights.

I can forsee a few members from the U.S buying parts from other countries since it would appear that the mark up is very high in the U.S. Certainly sourcing an outer filter colour exhaust filter may be cheaper than buying "at home," if some Sebo models aren't fitted with the standard colour filter.

End of the day weigh up what your costs are likely to be as well as the size of your home taken into consideration, not just how thick your carpets are.

Nar

So the sensor/g you feel is a better performing machine? I've owned a sensor s12 and I was not impressed with its performance, the build quality and features were great but it just didn't impress me. Performance is a huge factor in purchasing more expensive vacs. So...I think I'll pass on the felix. Thank you all for your input.
