Of all those vacs, the ONLY one I still have is the Hoover Dimension.

The price I pay for moving too often. And my kids need room to play, too.

Otherwise, I'd leave the rest at my parents!

Thanks for the memories =) I love Sears catalogs, My aunt used to get them and Id spend hours looking at them all. My cousin moved in with her and she tossed them all, she didnt know Id want them or how valueable they are.

Eurekaprince, thanks for the info on those small canisters. Looking at them, I assumed it was the same manufacturer. And, I recall in another ad I read back then that the blue canister was bagless.
floor-a-matic, I always liked the Kenmore Cleanmore and Heavy Duty.

massagemiracle, since you mentioned Montgomery Wards, I will post this ad from a M-W 1994 Dream Book. It has some less common models.

If I do the JcPenney catalogs, I will put them in a new thread, so this doesn't get so long.

catalog pages! Many of you have a nice collection of catalogs from Sears, Dillard's, Jc Pennies, etc. Unfortunately, I do not have any in my possession. So thanks, Cole for posting these. It takes time to scan things in and can be rather difficult when the scanner does not want to work quite right.

I had that Bissel Canister Deep cleaner and we used the CRAP out of it.

I know it hooked to the faucet, but I didn't mind. It did a GREAT job. I prefer the canister deep cleaners to the upright deep cleaners, but you really can't find canister deep cleaners anymore.

What is the vacuum cleaner on the cover of the Sears brochure, entitled "Isn't it time for some New Technology"?

It's an extremely rare vacuum, with a VERY unique feature - which was part of its' name. It's "living proof" (once again) that James Dyson didn't invent anything new.

So to any vintage vacuum buffs out there: What is it? And what is it's unique feature? (I know, of course, but think it will be fun to find out if anyone else does).

Tom....based on the symbol on the bag, I am going to guess it was an Apex upright vacuum. Am I correct?? But what would it's unique feature have been though??

Funny how the prices were pretty much the same for the Sears Vacs as they are now.....even though that amount of money was more then than it is now.

I find it a rare privilage to own such fine examples of vacuums of a period of time as you do fan-of fans. I own many of the machines pictured, remember some of those newer sears adds and the machines listed in them.91-92 would have been a little before I was even able to read or have an interest in vacuums, but I wish even from 94' and up I'd have come across catologes and adds and such when I was young. It is funny how some of the prices were near identical to what they are now, but even so looking at some of those machines I would have never paid that much for them, ever! Guess I'm lucky someone did, otherwise I wouldn't have almost all of my 80's-90's vacs!!! If it isn't too much to ask, could you rescan the catolog pages that had folds in them, links 2,6,8,and 10. and would it be possible for a more clear scan of the kenmore powerpath advertisement?

that is an Apex Steerable upright! You can tell by not only the apex bag logo, but the bend in the handle just above the handle bail!

Exactly. The Apex "Which Way", that allowed for steering the machine (like a dyson ball). The Apex also featured a backwards revolving brush, so it didn't seize the fringe when running it up onto a rug.

This was the catalog page spread i was referring to #5 (see link). I called this WideTrack Eureka a 'Boss' simply because it shares the same outer bag look as the low line Boss model which is still available. This WideTrack sports the better brush roll and more powerful motor from what i can make out, so it is more properly 'Boss like'.

That little blue Kenmore that someone said was a sanyo was a Hitachi way back in the 80's through to probably the early 2000's
