Sears catalogs

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Thats cool to see all that! Back when that catalog was published I was so into Wards and Penney's that I hardly ever looked at Sears. But now I wish that I had.

The little blue suction-only canister vac was made by Sanyo - Sanyo always made great suction-only canister vacs that were both powerful and extremely quiet. The little $50 white canister vacs a few pages back (product #9 on the seventh page) was also made by Sanyo - at some point Sears called it the "Let's Clean" vac! Some versions of that older white canister had an electrified hose with a power switch on the handle.

My only problem with many of the Sanyo canister vacs from that era is that they were bagless and emptying the dirt cassettes was always a messy task. As well, the hoses were often very short (only 5 feet).

Sears Kenmore vacs were made by many manufacturers besides their prime supplier Whirlpool (later Matshushita/Panasonic). The other suppliers were Sanyo, Regina, Ryobi, LG, Sweden's Electrolux and its Eureka subsidiary.

Impressive...

...is that Eureka Wide Sweep vacuum, sometimes known as the SAMPSON!

Ya that is very cool I too enjoy looking at old catalogs and it's funny because sears prices since then haven't changed all that much thanks. Zach

Thanks for the memories =) I love Sears catalogs, My aunt used to get them and Id spend hours looking at them all. My cousin moved in with her and she tossed them all, she didnt know Id want them or how valueable they are.

Thanks everyone.
Eurekaprince, thanks for the info on those small canisters. Looking at them, I assumed it was the same manufacturer. And, I recall in another ad I read back then that the blue canister was bagless.
floor-a-matic, I always liked the Kenmore Cleanmore and Heavy Duty.

massagemiracle, since you mentioned Montgomery Wards, I will post this ad from a M-W 1994 Dream Book. It has some less common models.

If I do the JcPenney catalogs, I will put them in a new thread, so this doesn't get so long.

I vote for more

catalog pages! Many of you have a nice collection of catalogs from Sears, Dillard's, Jc Pennies, etc. Unfortunately, I do not have any in my possession. So thanks, Cole for posting these. It takes time to scan things in and can be rather difficult when the scanner does not want to work quite right.
