I have used my Royal widecleans in my place-has deep cut pile carpet-they work really well-not as good as the Kirby G types-but better than the equivelaent Sanitaire model.I have picked up all types of debris with the Royals-I do think it is one of the only widesweeps that do well.My Monster Powerflite is another.24" sweep for that one.
8.7 amps of power is plenty to do some really deep cleaning , its odd because the way it grooms the carpet it looks at first like its not doing a good job, but its because there are far less wheel/nossle marks, i ran both the kirby and sanitair over the freshly royal cleaned carpet and they are unable to do a better job bringing up the nap.
i would love to do a REAL test for deep cleaning, but im sure its about the same.
also, it doesnt feel like its sucking up the carpet because the huge brush roll pulls it along but sure enough it pulls the carpet off the ground 18 inches at a time!
kirby is really hard to beat, im still looking for a G-3 my fave G series i love the prototype look
I can to agree-Kirby is hard to beat. The Royal widesweep is one of the only widesweeps that works for me.I have two-a brand new one and an older one that I bought from a former vac place-The owner of the former vac shop(Vacuum Cleaner Hospital) died-but when his shop was operating-got several vacs from him at good prices-repaired machines that owners left for more than 30days.That is how I got one of my 18" Royals-it has the grey cloth dump bag-and a plain nozzle plug.
