Better Quality Photos

Hello again everyone,

The previous photos were shot with my new digital camera in "Auto Mode" that uses a screening filter for reflective (shiny) surfaces to reduce glare. After looking at the photos I'd previously posted here, I finally decided to dig into the user guide finding out I used the wrong mode.

Here are a few photos I'd re-taken.

Hi Mike -

I bought the same vacuum and left it with a friend when I moved out of a house we shared years ago. She mentioned today that it needs a new belt. Do you have the model number for the belt for model 89103? Also is the schematic referenced above relevant for this model should there be further issues down the road? I searched online and this model does not appear on most websites for vacuum parts. Is there a similar model that shares most of the same parts? She's lucky since for now it just needs a new belt!

Thanks -

Jane

Hi Jane,

At this point in time, forget about a schematic as Royal (now TCI-Dirt Devil) has no idea what an Anniversary Edition Model#89103 even is.

You'll do best on Vac Parts+, (Henry Co.) eReplacementParts.com, and other websites discussed here on this forum.

Right now besides belts, I'd advise you to purchase (Qty.2 as they're cheap) 670744 Nozzle Plugs, (Flap that covers belt access hole on front of nozzle) an extra 285270 Nozzle Guard (Bottom Cover below Brush Roller), and a couple belt lifters @ $1.50 each. If you should need motor/brush roller ball bearings, they're dirt-cheap on eBay. YES, Brush Roller Bearings are cheaply and easily replaceable.

Remember to ALWAYS UNPLUG the vacuum prior to inserting the belt lifter through the belt from the bag discharge outlet side of the machine. Check that you have the belt installed correctly by spinning the shaft extension (pulley) CLOCKWISE as viewed from the front of the vacuum with your fingers. If you installed the belt INCORRECTLY, it will flip off the shaft when rotated CLOCKWISE.

As far as the belt is concerned, Ben is right on the money with P/N: 1672260001. Instead of trying to install the belt over the motor shaft extension with a screwdriver, a few belt lifters (one as a spare) are a good cheap investment while ordering parts.

Spending money on a few spare parts is worthwhile now being they're still available, as Royal is no longer, Royal an American company in Ohio, especially if the vacuum is in relatively good condition likely giving you several years (if not decades) more service.

Hope this helps,
Mike

I need screws . . .

Hello again everyone,

Although this vacuum cleaner is back together and running like a charm, I'd like to get the correct screws listed below. What company would be most likely to have them? I bought what seemed to be 'Like' screws at the hardware store, but they seem to bottom out.

Royal Model# 89103 Anniversary Edition Metal Upright Vacuum Screws (Zinc)

(Qty.4) 10-32 x 3/4" NP/N Fan Case Joining Screws (Phillips Fillister Head)

(Qty.4) 10-24 x 3/8" P/N: 1980743000 Motor To Fan Case Screw (Phillips Pan Head)

(Qty.3) 10-24 x 3/4" P/N: 1023309000 Nozzle To Fan Case Screw (Phillips Flat Head Thread Forming)

(Qty.3) 8-32 x 3/8" P/N: 1670013000 Motor Plate Screws (Phillips Pan Head)

Thanks in advance,
Mike
