Hello everyone,
I'd recently been given a Model 89103 Royal Anniversary Edition 14" vacuum cleaner un-assembled in it's original box, from a widow whose husband owned a sewing/vacuum repair sales/service store. However, the motor shaft extension had been removed probably for the repair of another vacuum. Everything but the shaft extension and a few screws are all accounted for.
The first thing I did was call Royal to obtain a parts schematic. I was on the phone for 45 minutes with two very nice women who searched, but could not locate any information what so ever pertaining to this vacuum cleaner. Come to find out, Royal was sold to a Chinese firm TCI which explains everything.
Perusing the Internet for days, I finally ordered a shaft extension and a few other consumable parts such as belts from eReplacementparts.com. All parts ordered fit correctly except for the shaft extension P/N:380261, as the LHT motor shaft bottoms out in the shaft extension, leaving a 3/16-1/4" gap between the shaft extension and fan when snugly tightened.
This is the data label information on the nozzle housing:
Royal Anniversary Edition Vacuum
Model:89103 Plant:A
Household Type
Serial:194348731A
According to information obtained from the Internet, this vacuum was manufactured prior to Royal changing over to a drop-in unitized motor assembly, as this vacuum has commutator brush caps on the outside housing. The only other shaft extension I was able to find was P/N:380262, which supposedly fits models with an 18" nozzle.
My thinking at this point is: (A) Is this shaft extension P/N:380261 NOT the correct part for this vacuum? (B) This particular shaft extension may have not been machined correctly, meaning it wasn't threaded deep enough? (C) The motor shaft needs to be cut to facilitate shaft extension P/N:380261, as the original extension is obsolete?
Missing Screws (Zinc) - The following info from parts schematics on the Internet:
(Qty.4) 10-24 x 3/8" P/N: 1980743000 Motor To Fan Case Screw (Phillips Pan Head)
(Qty.3) 10-24 x 3/4" P/N: 1023309000 Nozzle To Fan Case Screw (Phillips Flat Head Thread Forming)
(Qty.3) 8-32 x 3/8" P/N: 1670013000 Motor Plate Screws (Phillips Pan Head)
I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter.
Thank you in advance,
Mike
