hey
i recently bout a royal 4000 early to mid 90s date code. The plate says 10.5 amp. I asked ben and he said it was a gimmick.
I opened up the vacuum and the motor is 10.5 amps. The date on the motor is 1 month prior to the date code on serial number plate. The motor also has the stamping on it and it is indeed a 10.5 amp motor.
I had a 10 amp 1030z and its motor was like ever other royal ive had. This motor is different as coil motor and carbon brushes are all one unit. Its close to lamb motor for compacts. the bearing plate is like a metal fan like shop vac and rainbow motors aluminum is my guess. ON top of plate is fan. Id post pics but not possible at this time long story.
If you look on ebay model 4000 you will see a vacuum similar to mine. The motor housing is spottless because motor is self contained. It is loud and suction like 10 amp is insane. I may do cfm test but this royal is unique in amperage and the motor is not like others. If i were to guess the drop in motors were modeled same way. This is not a drop in motor though since everything matches up.

Hey

The first pic is not of vacuum it's off a catalog I bought.

The vacuum pics were before cleaned. The pics of wiring are for wiring when reassemble it.
But serial number and date code and amp stamp on motor.
