1936 Kirby 2C with all original parts from rebuild. It still has "2C" stamped on the underside of the motor housing. Everything on this unit is up and running like the day it was rebuilt in 1966. From the motor, and the belt and brush roller, to the light. This vacuum cleaner sat in my father's closet for 40 years. Everything inside and out is still very clean and well maintained.

That looks more like a Kirby 2R

The 2R is slightly different than the 2C. The even visibly I can see the light housing, the bag, and the brush housing are different. This is an original 2C rebuild from 1966. The bag and the wheels are from the 1960s vacuums when it was restored but everything else is original.

Hi John..welcome to VL. I have that same Kirby, all original except the cord. Mine has the original model plate on the bottom, and just has a C in front of the serial nbr. There are much more knowledgeable collectors on this site than myself. Maybe someone can clarify the differences between the pre 505 Kirbys.

They may have just put the wrong rebuild sticker on the bottom of it, or some kind of misprint or misread -- who really knows for sure? But I can tell you for a fact that the head and light cap belong to a Kirby 1C. And if by some reason you don't believe just ask our friend James, AKA The Kirby King, and he'll tell you the very same...Long Live The King!!!

Well, I 'd say about half of its value lies in the condition of its original bag, and the other half lies in the condition of its original tag and overall body shape.

The nozzle is not the correct one, nor is the light cap. That was why I included the video of johnnyb59c's 2C for comparison. How could yours be a 2C if it looks like a 1C instead? I do agree with cb123 that they made a misprint on the rebuild tag.

Meanwhile, there still is another Kirby 2C rebuilt in October 1974 listed on eBay which also got out with the 1C nozzle casting by mistake but the light cap is correct. That seller is listing that machine for $1,000 Buy It Now.

I'm starting to think that it's a 1C but when it was rebuilt they may not have been familiar with the 1C so they just stamped it as a 2C. Even though it had all the 1C parts.

It obviously doesn't have mismatched parts. It's a 1C that was mistaken for a 2C. That's quite obvious. It's much more unlikely that a restoration factory have 1C parts to a 2C.

It obviously doesn't have mismatched parts = LOL.
1. The entire handle assembly is incorrect - the handle fork, handle tube, handle grip are incorrect for a 1C.
2. Replacement non original 1C parts are - brush roll, cloth bag, 4 wheels, belt cover, power cord.

Just be honest with your replies. I am not trying to beat on your machine, just be honest about it and not pretend it is something more than it is by stating "It obviously doesn't have mismatched parts".
