My 1986 electrolux d720 has a ze3 that matches it? Does this mean it was tested in NZ?

I have a new electrolux. It is a 1934 electrolux z25 with almost everything present. I just need a sprayer and a 14-inch floor brush. Here are some photos.

Here is an old ad showing a volta red devil, and I will attach images of my Husqvarna in as found condition! Interistingly the volta machines with onboard tools have a door that opens in the opposite direction to usual

It may be that the ZE3 was introduced and/or tested in NZ, but it may also have appeared at the same time in other markets such as the UK. Since the French market had the ZE34, it must have delayed introducing the ZE3. It's unfortunate that no one that lives in most of those other countries contributes to this forum.

Congratulations on obtaining a Z25 from 1934. I hope you are able to get a sprayer for it.

Completely different from what was sold in the US and I believe also Canada as the Viking Huskvarna V720. Here is an image of one from the internet ( haven't cleaned mine up yet so no photos of mine )

I have seen a few different husqvarna's. There may be more though. I have seen a red q26k0 with no onboard tools or suction control, just the most basic machine possible. There is my one that has a two speed motor and on-board tools. I have seen a dark green one with a turbo button and a suction slider with on board-tools. Then there is the smoked gray sort of colour machine with turbo boost, suction control slider, large turbo tool and on-board tools. I am not sure what the link is. The after market dustbag packets said for Electrolux, qualcraft, Husqvarna and volta. I am not sure what the link is. I am getting another 775, I got rid of my first one as it started to sound horrible. I am also getting the shampooer for a 745 with some other bits and bobs for Electrolux machines. I will update you all when I get that stuff. I got a funny story from the man I picked a 745 with all it's tools and the matching ze3. He said that in the 1930s the Electrolux man came round and putting dirt all over their rug before realizing they had no electricity. He had to use the ewbank sweeper to clean it up. I would love to get a 746 someday. They seem quite rare.

In the next few months someone has a near new in box electrolux z89 they said I could buy. Someone else has offered an electrolux (likely from the 70s-90s) in box. Not sure on the model yet. I will update you when I hear about it.

Thanks for the reposts. I have never heard of big box stores taking vacuum cleaner trade-ins.

I hope that the potential purchase of the Z89 and the later one work out. Before long you will be able to have your own vacuum cleaner museum. Are you aiming to collect one of each OZ model & version?

Thought so. If you collect them over time it will be easier on your wallet. You might consider adding floor polisher-scrubbers as you find them, too.

Patience and persistence are key. I have stalked ebay and other sites for vacuums for as long as 15-16 years before one finally became available to buy. Part of the fun of collecting is the hunt. Sometimes just one part of a vacuum I desire, a hose or a power nozzle, will turn up but nothing else. I buy it with the thought that in the fullness of time the other parts of the vacuum will materialize, piece by piece, and if I don't buy that hose now later on the vacuum will turn up but without a hose or the hose is shot. Other times I bought the canister and hose but the power nozzle was missing. Then I stalk the internet for years waiting for that power nozzle to show up. Last time I did this I ended up finding two of those power nozzles and bought both.. Now another one is on eBay but I am letting that one slide. I have another Panasonic vacuum I need a power nozzle for. It will come. They always do.

I just say the three “Electrolux” vacuums. One was box box store home brand bag less, another was a bagged Hyundai and the third was a plasticrap Russell Hobbs. Oh well.

I noticed on my 338 the number started with 8 as well, I really thought they were older than that, but come to think about it, a neighbour purchased a ambassador around 1986 ( really testing my memory now lol) so I guess this was the proceeding model then the very rare ( in Australia) navy blue and white model with crushable hose being sold alongside the 7 series digital models, my 338 is near immaculate birthday present from a friend and I still haven’t used it, I can’t find where to buy paper bags anymore unfortunately, if you know please let me know, thanks in advance

Hi there, if you PM me a delivery address, I might have some I can send you, (I "think" I have a bunch of original Electrolux and some aftermarket bags in a storage bin in the roof), I'll climb up and have a look. If I've got enough to spare, I'll happily send ya some I grab em whenever I see them on TradeMe or at local junk shops.
I've got one of the 338's too (the only blue & white one I've seen in NZ & blue is my favorite color, so I jumped at it when I saw it on Facebook Marketplace) . It's up in the roof too, so I haven't had a look at its manufacture date.

I did have a look at the Electrolux d745. Plugged it in and… nothing, no sparking no noise just nothing. (Sighs) Oh well, that is fine.

Could be a bad cord or cord reel, bad on-off switch, loose wire somewhere or worn brushes. I've seen all of these problems at one time or another. Sometimes a brush is just stuck from accumulated carbon dust. If the carbon brushes are oriented top and bottom ( 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock ) the bottom brush often becomes clogged, jams in the metal sleeve and looses contact. Best to orient the brushes horizontally ( 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock ) or as close to that as possible if the motor mounts allow it. Some Mieles do not.

In Australia there is a complete d740 for sale, had to wipe the drool off my screen. They were only sold in 1992. In 1992 the d735 was discontinued, then the 740 introduced and then still in 1992 it was replaced by the 745. Very rare. Here is an example of their central vacuum. I have only seen lux branded central vacuums. I find it interesting how they used the hose handle from a cylinder on a central vacuum. Those hand grip are lovely and unrestrictive, they can even suck up a pencil.

I just realized that our d740 was of course different to the overseas version. Notice how the photo of a d740 from overseas has 3 indicator lights and a 3 position switch. Compare that to the one in Australia. Sorry, my post with the central vacuum Image didn't work. Therefore I will upload it here. I will also add photos of a vorverk tiger branded as a lux sora. When I get the chance to (tomorrow at some point) I will take a photo with a za65, z333, d720 and d775 in it to show how big they got.

I have looked at the models produced and the models with pictures on here and have discovered the following machines still don't have photos uploaded; model 5 original, model 5 with hose, model 11, z25, z31, za40, z62, z89, d725, d746, d747, d348. If anyone has any of these machines and could upload an image it would be much appreciated. I found this vacuumland thread showing a lux version of the d747, https://vacuumland.org/threads/lux-dp-7000-ex-electrolux-jumbo-747.24157/ . The Electrolux d747 version was in a light blue colour. I will continue hunting for images/photos tonight and post again tomorrow with an update.

Here is my photo of a z25 from 1934 in the first body style, the ze65 from the 2nd generation, the z333 from the 3rd generation, the d720 from the 4th generation and the d775 from the complicated area. Then there is a Miele c3 and a NZ market compact cylinder. That is from left to right by the way.

The Z25 is magnificent! What a gem. I love all of them but have a particular fondness for the D720 and its brothers. I need to come up with a way to 3-D print a means to keep an Ametek motor from spinning around in one because nobody makes a 120 volt motor that has the six fins to keep it from spinning and the post for the tension spring. If I can figure that out those are the eternal vacuum.

I have a D720, D730, D745, D770, D795, D820 and D920 ( something I made from an Aerus Guardian Platinum, D920 external skins, and an Intelligence hose, wands and Sebo ET1 power nozzle ). Yes the D770 and D795 are big bruisers but because of how they are put together I find them easier to work on and when the two stage Electrolux motor eventually dies there is a really powerful Domel replacement motor that requires a kit to install ( I have one more kit ) or an Ametek 115923 drops right in but you have to come up with something to hold the two rubber mounts that prevent it from spinning around. No little S shaped chingus attached to the cord rewind button to frustrate getting the rear part back in place and that flap thing over the cord is always balky at the end of the rewind. With the Domel motor my D795 is scary powerful, one of the most powerful vacuums I have and the bag chamber and bag are huge by Electrolux standards. A lot to like about them. The D820 however is the best of the bunch. Best in every way.

The d338's hose could be turned right to about a 43 degree angle before the ball fell. I wonder if a more powerful one like your D795 could do. Do you happen to know when vorverk bought out the lux name over here.

Electrolux Group sold their Lux International subsidiary in 1998. Vorwerk bought the rights to the Lux International name for the Asia Pacific region at that time. I have a Lux Sora, which is a 100 volt version of the Tiger 260 with their EB360 power brush that I bought from Japan a few years ago. Nice equipment.

Looking forward to seeing them, Elliot. Do you have a list and/or photos of Electrolux NZ floor polishers-shampooers? I'm curious if you had the same as the UK's. Also wondering if you plan to collect them, too.

I have always kept an eye out for the floor polishers. I have only seen a floor polisher that matches a ze/za65 i was unable to look at the model number and unable to buy it as it was not for sale. I was able to see the original carrier with all the brushes in it. wish it was for sale. I do collect floor polishers if they are not too boring, I just don't know that much about them. I found in an old electrolux manual or brochure , no clue where that is now, showed the z73 or z74, the floor polisher and some flymo stuff. The brochure might have also mentioned a Z747 or something similar. I was roughly 4 when I looked at that brochure so model numbers are long forgotten.

Flymo used to sell a mower that sort of hovered above the ground, like a hoover constellation, and would automatically adjust. They were electric plug in mower, usually in makita green or bright orange. I have also seen a flymo leafblower. That is all I know about flymo. I can get photos of a makita green mower in about a week.

Electrolux z25, apparently mine was bought over from the UK. some of the accessories are from my parts storage.

Electrolux z62, After some digging here is a couple of you toutube videos featuring this model. One of them has an australian z337.





Electrolux Z89, in a few months I might, and only might, be getting an electrolux z89 to get photos of.

Electrolux Z328 is the one in that lovely photo on TonyNZ's driveway.
Electrolux Z725, I was able to find one video featuring this model.
Electrolux D746, I can't find any photos of one. I will post them as soon as they are found.

Electrolux D348, I think this is the model number of the later remake of the 333 to match the D735. If i am wrong please correct me. I believe tony NZ has one based on an earlier comment.
