Yep, it is a blanking piece, this style of Henry was used between 1999-2002 it was the first of the standard Henry's to do away with the powerhead socket, all standard Henry's before 1999 had a power head socket. Numatic redesigned the motor housing slightly in 2003 so there was no blanking piece at all and added a push button on/off instead of a side mounted rocker switch.
In 2004 Numatic made Henry two speed, basically just added a hi/lo rocker switch on the left side and kept the push button on/off.
Numatic completely changed the switch layout in 2006-present, with, needless to say, the current Henry style, two rocker switches at the back on top, an on/off and hi/lo and with one central exhaust (a bit like the HVC200 with the central exhaust) unlike two side exhausts that had been used since 1985.
Numatic changed Henry to have an "Autosave" feature in 2009, which basically changed the hi/lo switch to a kettle design switch that would spring back when pressed, with a little light when you pressed it to tell you it was in hi, this had a slow start motor and always defaulted to low upon turn on. The "Autosave" Henry's proved pretty unreliable, so Numatic changed it back to the hi/lo switch again. Simpler.
Back to the this Henry...The motor housing on this 2001 Henry was first used on Henry's in 1991 and remained unchanged right up until 2002, of course, before 1991, there were two other types of motor housings used, the original non rewind HVC200 type, 1981-1985 and the first rewind models HVR200, 1985-1990.
