Only the new one on the left is sold now, the new one on the right is discontinued and is 15 years old!

The cord rewind was a bit stiff, so I needed to take it apart to apply some grease to the contacts to make the rewind turn more freely...So, while I was at it, I decided to show you some photos of what it looks like inside...Yup! The contacts are bone dry, the grease has all dried out.

All so lovely and new!

1100w single fan motor, not the most reliable Numatic motor

But, it is an all metal casing! Nice motor sound insulation/carbon dust capture filter there.

You can see there motor was made on 7th May 2001

Not long before the machine was put together, remember the rating sticker said it was made in the 33rd week 2001, Numatic certainly didn't keep stock for long! shows how popular the machines are.

Anyway, back to what the original plan to do...


So, I smothered the contacts in grease, as they should be and the rewind is as smooth as anything now.

Machine is all back together and in it's box.

So I ask, should I use him, or keep him new? what are your opinions, I would like to hear.

Well spotted.


I know, it isn't, the hose pictured is off my Jack, I included it just for the photos.

Unfortunately, the filter, crevice tool and hose were missing, as the box was not factory sealed, despite the missing pieces, (which is no big deal) there is no argument that the machine and other tools etc have never been used! It is very evident they're new and unused, the seller said it had been moved a few times over the year and things may have accidentally got lost from various moves...Not sure I buy that as the reason for those parts missing but anyway, who knows!

I have tracked down an original type "permatex" filter, used, unfortunately, but you can't buy it anymore, after a wash through the washer, it should be whiter that white and good as new! I bought a 1.9m hose along with a short hose cuff to make it fully original again, I also bought a generic crevice tool, as the generic Numatic tools you buy now are the same as the old genuine ones, lol.

I am still puzzled as to why the hose, crevice tool and filter were missing but the machine is completely new, a mystery...The only thing I can think of, is that the original owner bought two Henry's at the time and stored this one as a spare, and the parts missing from this were used on the first one as they got used more.

Why would you use him Alex?  It's not like you don't have other Henrys.   An <span style="text-decoration: underline;">un</span>used Henry is special.  A dirty Henry, call him a dirty boy, are so common.


 


I see Henry without his hat is merely a butch looking James, with a tough hair cut.


 


Any idea, Alex, what the blank cover was for?   Potential power nozzle plug?


 


 


 


 


All of our vacuums are "one in a million".   Look at that as either a compliment, or just the truth about our factory, mass produced lifestyle.  


 


Wow.  Think of how many vacuums are made each year, and how many have been made since vacuums came into the lexicon of appliances.  And we all own probably, at least one.  Even if a person owns 50 (and I do), that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
