Ahhhh, my two Blue Traditions! One I got at Goodwill for less than $10 and the second was a gift...(BP, Before Pandemic). This will be their second sprucing up. They have been parked in my garage getting all dusty again. I think I have a package of bags for these in a tub.

I believe I read somewhere that the design of the conversion setup on these greatly diminish the strength of the airflow. Is that true?

I have a full set of tools for one.

In case I forgot to, I will be completely cleaning out the emptor especially the tube.

Pictures will follow.

yes, the paper bag setup on a tradition is quite useless. it creates too much backpressure in the sani emtor reducing effective airflow. do yourself a favor, throw out the bag and fulltube, and buy an old stock tradition dump bag. you'll thank yourself later. they are still found easily on ebay and are OEM.

These vacuums were transitional models and were sold with both paper bag and shake out bags, it was an option you could order when the salesman sold it to you. Some have them some do not. Even though the dump bag model was the default and the paper bags were the option, the dump bag ordered models are more rare because everyone wanted the paper bag setup and the dump bag system was becoming obsolete.

There are 7 Kirby Traditions on eBay right now and of those 7 only 1 is a dump bag, the rest are all paper.

One down....

..one to go. The first one really wasn't too messy.

But, I did try that new method of using Mother's Cleaner. Worked like a charm.

Picture to follow and of course, a re-do of the Classic, Classic III and probably the Sentria II.

Umm

I'll just come out and help. Cut the fill at the base
Get the newest fill tube off sentries 2s. The bottom of the fill tube makes 4
Half to three quarters of inch slips. 12 3 6 9.o'clock. Get a box cutter, utility knife use a marker where the fill tube will insert the top of emtor. Make the hold a 1/4 smaller. Push the fill tube to where the notches are not visible.
If you have 1/4" to 1/2" screws either from the top or bottom screw it to the ue rubber. If you get clear cauling or black tape tape 50% on the blue plastic 50% on the fill tube.
The bam you have a hepa setup maximum airflow without sacrificing performance. I did tests it was way more efficient. You could still up 3 or 4 inching 2" OD pvc pipe and use F&G bags which is within single digit difference In performance.
That solves that issue and if 3dont have a white fan on I'd highly suggest one.
With the conversion using kirby(I use veva) type of bags, amodel fan and a good gasket on the bottom m sole plate this should perform better than all classic uprights. The heritage 2 and legend 2 are the best in my opinion.
I hope everything makes sense. If anything doesn't email me or ask on here I can cleR it up.
How many of your vacuums have the shah king rake ?

The second Tradition...

quick clean up, no polishing yet, but I pulled the bag off the sani-emptor, used the larger diameter fill tube I fixed up from a G6 bag and and attached it securely to the mini-emptor. Works great. I will see if there is any air leakage when I use it.

I also experimented by flipping the blue vinyl Tradition sani-emptor adapter upside down to reveal a large diameter surface to possibly attach a larger diameter fill tube.

"that new method of using Mother's cleaner"

Are you talking about a method where you first apply the Mother's polish and leaving it sit for about 15 minutes, and then while rubbing it around, don't turn the pad when it gets dark? Using the oxidation with the paste really made a difference. Dysonman posted about this method a while back,I tried it and I could see the difference!

And now, here we are....

Here they are, like I said, they just needed some sprucing up. However, I did replace the old bagging system on the one on the left.

I was studying the original emptor on one to see if I can use the original emptor to fill tube insert to attach a larger volume fill tube. I think this would increase air flow.

Cheers!

You

Probably will never see one. I've had maybe 8 traditions with none having the safety switch. Kirby recalled or fixed most traditions with the switch. The tradition was made 3 years I believe and 9 or 10 months in the first year they started fixing the switches. There pretty rare and Ben somehow got his hands on one of them.
