Here is a new Panasonic upright. It has a low price point (under $150.00) but some very nice features.
(1) automatic cord rewind
(2) long power cord
(3) hour glass dirt bin that compresses the dirt
(4) aluminum (not plastic) expandable wand
(5) wood brush roller (not plastic)
(6) very quiet motor
(7) 3 position handle so front of machine could move easily from one surface to the next
(8) lightweight and well balanced in use
(9)washable filter
(10) expanding crevice tool and dusting brush with 90 degree neck to clean ceiling fans etc
(11) loop style handle grip
(12) on/off brush control
(13) hepa type exhaust filter

Here is a shot of the brush roller. It had rubber coated wheels.
It did a good job of edge cleaning and the roller brush seemed to be a good combination of stiffness to clean but not so stiff that it would damage carpets.

Shot of tools showing the expandable metal wand and crevice tool plus a pet hair brush and dusting brush with adjustable joint for use in cleaning ceiling fans.
The tools and hose store on the machine.

There were a couple to areas that I did not care for too.
(1) Tool suction was fine but like my Dysons, Hoover and Bissel uprights, the machine falls over when you try and use the suction hose.
(2) just because it is a bag less machine-it is messy to empty and the filters will have to be washed.
I was impressed with the wood brush roller ,very quiet motor and 3 position handle control. It was a very pleasant and easy machine to push and use compared to other low price machines.

Sebo_fan,
Thanks for posting the video. I like the bagged version better. When I checked the bag less cyclones, they were caked with fine dust. I can imagine those would start smelling in short order and sure do not want to store that in a closet from week to week.
I thought the machine was pretty nice for the price point compared to some others we have in the big box stores in the same range. Of course the dusting tools were almost useless and no way to clean a bare floor except by turning off the brush roll.
I could not believe it had a quiet pleasant sounding motor.

Ty. Don't know about the U.S models, but the UK bagless and bagged upright versions have an awful paper made HEPA filter cartridge that can't be washed. Clearly Panasonic are out to make money there when the paper pleats of the HEPA cartridge eventually give up. At least you get a metal telescopic suction tube and what looks like a better, long dusting brush. Here in the UK we make do with cheap plastic and one single fixed height suction tube.
