Will bins from an older E2 Rainbow cleaner fit the new one?I have an extra large bin.Like the Aquamate from the pictures-you use it kinda like the powernozzle!Should be far more effective than the older one with the manually pushed brush nozzle.And the electric hose for water pickup-interesting.Always remembered Rainbows and other wet pickup type vacs had two hoses-one-non electric for wet,and the electric one for dry only.Guess I will have to give Ken a call-thanks for the info!May be better to try to get the vacuum from him than the local place.

Let me ask. With this Aquamate, does it say in the owners guide that you can only use cool water? Is that true? Another thing I wondered about the Aquamate as opposed to, say a hoover steamvac, is the water lift. I know any regular vacuum "to me" always seems to have better suction than a deep cleaner......So I'm *thinking* the extraction power on the Aquamate with the Rainbow's good suction would extract more water.......

It's such a HUGE improvement to have the ONE electric hose for EVERYTHING.....That's what I've always loved about my Kenmore Can was the direct connect......I can't imagine what you must have paid for all of this. Hopefully the direct connect won't have future problems. Usually that's one thing about Rainbow is that it's so reliable.

I tried it out this morning. The carpet was dry very fast because you have the FULL SUCTION and AIRFLOW from the Rainbow itself. I have a Steam vac and this is just me-but I always thought it left so much water in the carpets and was so heavy to push-pull and carry.
When I used my Steam- vac I would finnish by going over the carpet with my SE Rainbow and an empty pan. I would just use the fuller brush and it would still pull so much more moisture out of the carpet.
One thing about this new Aquamate is that the 2 tanks hold just the amount that will fill the regular Rainbow basin with the extract so you you don't have to worry about over filling the basin. The new Solution is very concentrated. I cleaned 14X18 family room with solution left over from one capfull. Yes you do use cool water. No need for hot water because of the formulation of the cleaner.
I will be surprised if I have trouble with the New Rainbow. I have had my SE for 18 years and used it in the garage,screened porch and it has taken a couple of tumbles down the stairs over the years. I think when you make one product (like Kirby) they want to make sure and do it right.
A friend in the vacuum business told me they spent a lot to develope and test the water pick up electric hose and wands but it sure makes changing from one system to another easy.
The nice feature about the Aquamate, just like the new Rainbow and power nozzle is that it is so quiet.

That machine IS impressive!

Does Rainbow only sell the machine with all accessories or will they let a buyer purchase the machine "a la carte", meaning you can pick and choose your accessories? I'd like to get everything for dry vacuuming but I don't care for the wet accessories.

Looks nice, but I won't be buying one....

It's great that Rainbow made some much-needed upgrades to the vacuum, such as the direct-connect wands & lighted water basin. But, I don't like the design of the new dolly, don't like the design of the new Rainbow logo, & that powerhead is just HORRIBLE!! The surface area it would cover is too small, considering how much the vac costs to buy. Plus, the brushroll looks wimpy & like it wouldn't clean the carpet deeply, & the edge groomers look like they will be problematic. They should have just kept the brush stiffeners on the brushroll & added stationary brushes on the side like Orecks have. Also, I hear no mention at all whether the new powerhead has a cog or V-belt or not. Considering that Rainbows sell for a little over $2,400 CDN, this is unacceptable & these should be standard features.

If this is all Rainbow's designers are capable of, they should have just gone to Wessell Werk & sourced a powerhead from them. Looks like if I buy a Rainbow now, it will be a E2 Blue Platinum model.

I am saving the sofa and chairs for you to give it a try! I really like the machine. So quiet and smooth. You should see my plush carpets. It really pulled the nap up. I want you to try that new Rainbowjet on the kitchen floor. Bam and it's done! Looking forward to your vist. Very powerful air flow and suction.
They made so many nice improvements.

I totally agree with everyone's interest in this new cleaner!  I am pea-green with envy that you got this cleaner!  You're probably one of the FIRST people in the COUNTRY to have this new Rainbow, it's so new!  Congratulations!

I really like the look and all the improved features.... thank you for sharing and congratulations on getting such a new and fun vacuum. That not being able to set the machine on dolly without the water basin always drove me crazy.

Do you have a picture of the switch? That's always my favorite part of a vacuum. How is the cord storage improved... they didn't give it a retractable cord finally, did they?

I like the edge cleaners and head light and swivel neck of the new power nozzle, but for some reason, at least to me, the new power nozzle just looks "cheaper" than the old one.

You can set the machine on the dolly without the basin.....It locks in place. At least it does in my e2

Yesterday when I got home from work after reading this thread----went ahead and called my local Rainbow dealer to see if he got the new Rainbows in stock-He Has!just got them!So I was the first customer in town to buy one!And yes I really like it!Contrary to what some say about the powernozzle-I think its a BIG improvement over the one that came with my older E2.The new Rainbow is termed "E2B"E2 Black.I like the new roller base-its got bumpers on the edges-when you pull a full Rainbow along-it can bang pretty hard into walls or furniture.And I tried the machine breifly--the new powernozzle dug up MORE dirt than the older one ever could.I think the "whisker" brushes are very clever-makes the nozzle clean better against walls-and on either side.Hell,I might try to use this nozzle on my other vacs,too.and like that it has a headlight.I think Rainbow has a winner here--wonder if Kirby will follow in Rainbows footsteps?and like the lighted bin-so cool to watch while vacuuming with the machine-and you see the dirt build up!Since I was a first customer-gave me a special price.but the Rainmate and Aquamate they won't sell me-have to play the "name game" for those items.Maybe I should order those items from Ken.they both would be helpful.and like how this new Rainbow is quieter than the older one.This thread inspired me to get it.Since I got it after coming back from Mid shift-didn't get much time to play around with it.But do like it-may end up using this machine along with my Sebo,Neile,Royal ,canisters.The bins for this and the older E2 look alike-should be interchangeable.Will have to try it.The saleslady was so excited to sell me the vacuum-was her first one of this model-she took my picture and will post it on their sales board.Will go over to see.I was posed with the machine and it going.suggested to her to take the picture with the machine running and bin lights on.I did feel good for her.And she was going to look thru the trade in pile for vacuums for my collection.

It would make sense to have a power nozzle like that. First, you only really need something for surface dirt close to walls, because that area doesn't get worn. The smaller brushroll area would really concentrate that powerful suction, so I bet it is a heck of a deep cleaner.

Here is a shot of the switch,new cord wrap and rear of dolly. You can now just loop the cord and hung it if you don't want to wrap the cord every time you use the machine several times a week as I do with a dog shedding hair.
The pictures don't do the power nozzle justice. Now the machine does not have a shine,slick plastic look.
You will be shocked when you run that new power nozzle. It cleanes the entire front surface,not just where you see the brushes and it, like the machine is quiet.

You got it right. That was what I was trying to explain. The brushes do come in from the sides but does it ever have high air flow and suction on the carpet. I think the large diameter of the agaitatior and small opening also contributes.
I was just shocked when I started to use it on my thick plush carpeting. When you pull it back to you it leaves the carpet nap all standing up with no streaks or center missed area including the area on the ends where the revolving brushes are located. It also has a center DIRECT dirt and air path like an old Hoover.
The test for me was around the table and chair legs in the breakfast room on the braided rug. It snatched up dog hair before you even get to it.
I do like the pause feature on the switch. It works good when you come to the end of lightweight rug. You can release the switch which turns the brush off and not ruin the rug edge. I also like the fact that now you can LOCK the power nozzle in ON mode when doing a large area.
I gave it the test and let it run on the same spot for several minutes and NO damage to the rug which is a lot more than I can say about some of my other new vacuums. Take a good look at the groves and design of the channels on the bottom of the rug plate.
Now let's get that new Kirby on the market!

How many feet-long is that hose, Rob?  Do they offer a longer hose anymore?  I know they used to have maybe an 8' hose and also a 12' hose available for purchase.  I also see that it no longer comes with a suction-only hose, but do they still make one available for those who may want one?
