Hi, just want know if anyone is familiar with the Aerus Guardian Upright vacuum? Is it a good machine? I am looking for a new vacuum and unsure which to get. Its between the Aerus, Miele or Sebo. I got a demonstration of the Aerus, and while it seemed to perform well in the store, I am unable to find reviews of people who have owned one or any info on reliability.

Thanks

new aerus upright

you should go with miele , aerus doenst vibrate the carpet idk about sebo . miele is the only true sealed vacuum. if you have allergys and what a upright go with miele

Aerus...

has not substantially changed their design since their introduction of the Discovery.
It does not have on board tools. The Pro-Team is a clone with OBT.

The Miele has the strongest suction and highest airflow, spring loaded floating height adjustment, and the swivel head. The Sebo has a flatter profile, an electronic auto-height adjustment, and a unique on board hose arrangement that will lock so it does not retract in use, but will with a 1/4 twist release and pull back into the wand. Lux has not out any money into upright R&D for decades. It is overpriced

Can't speak to the Aerus, but I have a Miele S7 and a Sebo Felix, both of which I love. As mentioned above, the Miele has the best filtration I have ever experienced, but the Sebo Felix is not far behind.

I have it

I own the Guardian upright and I think it is a great machine.  It does a very nice job on plush carpet and the power is substantial.  It does come with tools but not it is not on board but is a duplicate of the Guardian Canister hose.  The hose has a quick connect and is stout.

I also have the Miele S7 twist and I have to disagree with Mr. Trebor while it locks down when stretching the hose you have to use two hands one to guide the nozzel and the other to keep the hose from being too taunt when using tools.  The hose wants to retract back and does so with  good bit of zeal.  I do not care to use the tools on the S7 for that reason.

Honestly I think Aerus makes a good product and it has a much better warranty also.  Aerus offers 10 years as the Miele offers 2 years.  I think if you are going to spend that kind of money you need to take them for a test drive.  Good luck to you honestly don't think you can go wrong with either as an owner of both I feel they are both superior machines, but everyone's needs are different so find the one that works best for you.

i think why miele only has a 2 year warrtany. becuase they know your not going to have problems. with your vacuum. i didnt care for the Aerus upright becuse they looked cheap ,and i know the filteration was ok. if i were you id go with either miele or a kirby. its rare to see a miele in for repair . i think the price of a Aerus is a rip off like other door to door.

thanks for the quick helpful responses. Which is more durable/solid? I have a cleaning service that will be using it probably more than I will. The warranty is 7 year on Miele and 10 year on Aerus. The salesperson at the Aerus store has quoted me $1,000 for the upright with tools and sidekick and is trying to desperately sell me the machine. Miele was $599 half the price.

Aerus/Miele

I own both the Aerus lux Guardian and the Miele S7 Salsa. I also own an Aerus Lux 4000 which does have on board tools . I am a Kirby lover hands down but I do find myself using my Aerus Guardian a lot more than the Miele or the Kirby . I feel the Aerus does a great job on my Frize' carpet. It grooms it very well and that carpet looks the best after the Aerus . I don`t recomend anyone getting that carpet because it makes most Vacuums very difficult to push . I feel the Aerus works well on all types of carpets but this realy thick carpet I have is easiest with the Aerus or the Self propelled Sentria or any other kirby with self propel feature. My Miele does a good job but is very heavy and quite bulky . Aerus fits under all of my furniture. I guess they beleive why change a good thing .

Aerus, Miele, Sebo

Ok I have had all 3. They all cleaned well and they all had their good and bad points. I still have the Aerus, but not the other two.

Aerus - I liked the design when I had the Discovery III and like someone said, it hasn't changed much since. First an after filter and then a hepa filter. As fas as a sealed hepa, I am not sure, but the hepa filter has a rubber gasket to seal to the machine. I like mine and it grooms well. You will never find an easier bag change bar none.

Miele - Very top heavy and kind of bulky. It stears around furniture very well and has a huge bag. You do have to fight the hose when being used.

Sebo X Series - Auto height adjustment but, I had some carpet that it would not go low enough to groom really well. You will have to hold on to the handle when using the hose or the machine will tip over. The same would go for the Aerus if you put the attachments on. If you go with Sebo you may want to look at the Felix, you can carry it without the power nozzle like a portable canister.

All of the above are well made so it's just what you like and don't like. You will end up with a good vacuum either way you go.

You might want to go to the Sebo website. They have very short instructional videos, for most of their products.

new aerus upright

i was just giving my input . not trying to start stuff i have the right to give my opionon

I've had an older Electrolux upright (1993) and would not recommend in terms of cleaning performance. It had very little suction and I don't not like the power-nozzle, so I sold it. If you must have one you can get one of eBay for MUCH less than $1000. It's basically a canister vacuum in an upright position that you push and is not worth $1000. A Miele would be a much better choice.

You said you have a cleaning service. Do you mean someone cleans your house or you work for one? Ether way you could get a Hoover commercial vacuum that would clean better for alot less than the cheapest Miele.

I have a cleaning service that cleans my home every other week. In between I use it myself once a week. I currently have an 11 year old oreck dutchtech canister that is very beat up and gets repaired at least once per year. The cleaning lady is a little rough some times. What about suction performance with these? I wish there was a store that sold all under one roof, it would be easier to pick one out. I never heard of Sebo until this year. So far I like the Miele, and have yet to see the Sebo Felix. The Aerus does not swivel but the shop owner said he could make me a 15 foot hose for stairs, getting underneath low furniture and hard floors, but not compatible with the sidekick which I believe is an electric six foot hose.

You did not read my post.....

Mr. Filterqueenman. I said the SEBO had a hose that locked in an non-retract position but with a quarter twist will be pulled back inside the wand. The MIELE hose does not pull back inside the wand. It has a greatly expanding stretch hose, and like all hoses of its type requires two hands to operate, which is not the case with the Sebo. The Sebo also has a 12' extension hose available

If a headlight is not important, and Super Clean air filter (better than most hepa vacs on the market)is sufficient you could purchase TWO Miele Twists for less than the cost of the Lux Guardian upright. On upstairs, one down and get twice the wear since they would each be used half as much.

As to the weight of the Miele, try keeping your arm down to your side and swinging from the shoulder, and try moving just a little slower, the brush has a fair amount of forward pull if you give it a chance. My chiropractor claims the incorrect position of the elbow cause 90% of the stress of vacuuming.

Warranty

The Aerus model is sold at a higher price point because of its lengthy warranty.  If Miele or Sebo offered longer warranties, they too would be more expensive.  Aerus markets its vacuums to particular niche which values and will pay for the lengthier warranty.

I would go for the Sebo X4. It's a really sold and powerful machine.

People here have had issues with the Miele hoses kinking up and staying that way, so unless they've fixed that problem, there is no reason to spend that much for a machine that is going to have that happen. I guess not everyone has had that issue, so that has to be taken into consideration.

I've never found any Electrolux uprights to be powerful, nor especially durable. I played with the Gaudrian in the store the last time I was in that section of town and it really didn't impress me much. Seems very much like the older ones with a different color. I have a friend who cleans houses, and he has a Prolux.... loves it for some reason, though he says using the hose is an absolute nightmare. It comes out and the machine falls over frequently during use. Would you be needing attachments? The Miele and Sebo have them right there, you have to go digging and connecting for the Aerus.

I wouldn't count a long warranty as a selling feature.... Dirt Devils used to have 6 year warranties (motor only, I think, maybe they still do), Orecks have long warranties.... neither brand is especially known for quality or performance.... I think that manufacturers offer long warranties as a selling feature, knowing that most people will toss the vacuum and buy a new one when it breaks. I guess you'd be a little more hesitant with a 1000 dollar machine.

Good point with the warranties. One thing caught me though. If something broke or needed repair, are these imported models expensive to fix? parts? labor? Sebo, how readily available are bags and spare filters? (I could buy bags online) Its seems like these brands are sold discreetly, as if the companies don't want you to buy it. Make a buck and run. Don't support or service product. Atleast with Oreck when something goes wrong the place is 1 mile away. Although, they do not make what I am looking for.

Miele: ($599) 7 year motor, 7 year housing, 1 year parts/labor.
Sebo: ($650) 5 year everything
Aerus: ($999) 10 year everything
