You are sure making some good headway with the sanding and polishing - good job! Very time consuming but will be worth it in the end. Nothing like the bright shine of a Kirby!

If this will be a daily driver, I would suggest replacing the bearings while it is apart, since they are cheap (~$7 each) and the fact that the machine was quite neglected. Definitely replace them if the races are loose. The front one would be the priority since it gets the heaviest load (this one does not require a puller tool.)

Had this for years .My grandma cleaned the local ODEON cinema with this for around 15 years .When it was demolished the hoover ended up with me .Its time it had some attention so its next on the bench

I used to have that same Hoover!! I found it on the curb. Cleaned it out really good.. The light even still worked! Great machine and I totally regret letting it go now.
