In a few months...for the scents that fit in the exhaust

Per Aerus a week or so ago. They do not have them in stock yet.

That is good to hear on the scent cartridge.
How long do they last before you have to replace them. ?

Question: Just curious

I know this depends on the user - but what would the average YEARLY operating cost be with one of these machines?

Mark,
I have a German shepherd who sheds a lot so I vacuum everyday, I don't dust either above the ground, I vacuum everything since dusters just push dust around and it lands somewhere else so I go through about 1 bag a month to five or six weeks. I think most people will get 2 months out of a bag. They really hold a lot of dust because of the cyclone action.
So roughly 6 bags at 2 bucks a bag. $12.00. One Pre motor hepa per year heavy user every two years lite user @39 dollars. So roughly 32 to 50 dollars a year.

Aerus

Vacuums are very inexpensive to use compared to Miele canisters .

I have always loved Aerus , Kirby , Rainbow , Filter Queen , Ghibbli vortech Force, Miracle Mate , Tri Star , Hyla , Aura Robo clean , Royal Metal , Hoover Convertible, Eureka/Sanitaire old style , Ocean Blue ,Viking, Simplicity , Riccar and Oreck are the best vacuums IMO .

They are all high end / quality machines all brands I only collect .

I'm starting to doubt there will be a "new" upright. I'm not trying to insult anyone but let's face it: none of the predictions made have came to pass. Anything we hear or read is hearsay. I hope they at least keep upgrading the Platinum. Of course, if the "new" upright is just a Guardian with a black color, it won't be "new" to me. Remember, they already put out a new upright not long ago with the FreshEra, which I love. I think they need a completely new upright design. And it could happen. Recall that the 1205 in 1969 was a vast departure in design and technology. However, upon release they used the 1950's era power nozzle design for a while until the new design came out. Thier changes have always been incremental.

If it

isn't broke don't fix it that's their motto on the upright . Many people love the upright just the way it is . I am excited by the color change and will purchase one once it is available .

The most reliable vacuum they make is the upright and many are in commercial settings and last many years .

My mother is still using her Discovery II advantage and the only thing I ever replaced was the brush roller . Not once did it ever break down I think that's the reason they wont change this style upright .

I hope

There is a new upright on the horizon. But my Lux 6000 is 18 and has never been down for a day. I am starting to think Dan is right, they don't wan't to change a good thing! Although I think they would get a sales jump if they would update. Look how well Aerus is doing with the Platinum - they can barely keep up with production, how long has it been since they have had that problem, and what a great problem to have.

Scent cartridges ...

Couldn't you just saturate a cotton ball with the essential oil of your choice and stick it in the chamber?

It would certainly be a lot healthier than God Only Knows what chemicals they'll be putting into those cartridges.

I think it's quite dangerous that we as a society have become so enamoured of "scents" that we have air fresheners in just about everything, everywhere. It's not good -- those are all toxic chemicals we're breathing in!

The FreshEra is a Hoover Signature upright. Available for around $149-$199 at any internet store. I'm good friends with someone within Aerus, and know that Aerus was selling the FreshEra to dealers for significantly more than the Hoover Signature cost me (I own two stores in SC). It is very interesting the direction Aerus is taking with outsourcing their canister. Time will tell.

Well I like the upright but I disagree that it isn't broken. It is a great design, but it needs some tweaks to be competitive in the high-end segment. I feel that we have progressed beyond 1955, and beyond 1985. All manufacturers now know how to seal a unit. This needs to be done on as many as possible. Vacuums should hold the dirt they pick up. The Aerus upright just needs a few improvements and it would be beyond good, it would be fantastic. It needs to be fully sealed with no doubt about it. It needs to incorporate the double HEPA technology. It needs to integrate the sealed filters. It needs on board attachments. Finally, it needs an LED headlight. It can forego the swivel neck because it has an L shaped nozzle, which allows easier movement around furniture legs.

Regarding the FreshEra, it's just the new version of the Lux Lite that Electrolux brought in. The FreshEra is a great little vacuum. While the FreshEra is outsourced it has Aerus specifics. The Platinum was designed by Aerus and Lux and is supposed to eventually be manufactured at Bristol according to someone on this forum but I've forgotten who said it. The Euro/Dollar ratio probably plays a role.

The FreshEra is built with a different hood, and a different color bag. There are no "Lux specifications" that it is built to other than colors. We have repaired several, and all of the parts are inter-changable. The canister is outsourced as well. The only thing truly "Aerus" is the hose, wands, and PN. I do think that Sauber canister is a completely better direction than continuously updating and changing the 2100 style.

Yes it has

one Aerus specification the "L" shaped nozzle on the current fresh era . The model that is mainly Hoover was discontinued .

The fresh era is used by my Aerus dealer and many others as an ad on to make a sale . He doesn't charge for it makes it look like they are getting something for free .

How the Platinum Edition came to America

True Story: The vacuum cleaner industry has a trade show every year, called the VDTA show (Vacuum Dealers Trade Association). Two years ago, it was held in New Orleans. Tacony brought myself and 50 examples of vintage cleaners from the Museum. I invited Rich Luisi, Vice President of Sales for Aerus - North America, to the convention. My good friends Chris Nash, Derreck Fricke and Evan Rogers were also present. Derreck spoke to Rich at length about getting the Lux Intelligence model into America to replace the outdated Hi Tech 2100 design. I had the chance to talk to him at length as well about the need for a completely new model, something along the revolutionary lines of the model LX. Within six months, the Platinum was in the USA being tested and tweeked for American homes and 110 volt current. It was launched in January, as we all know. I asked Rich directly about any new development of any 'new' upright - and was told directly that there is NO new upright being designed - just a new color scheme to match the Platinum. The reason the power nozzle doesn't shut off when the cleaner itself is stopped - is so one can use the Sidekick OR the Power Nozzle (or the Dry Lux) to scrub in the carpet cleaning powder without sucking it up. Try a little Capture on the sofa, use the Sidekick to scrub it in without the canister motor running, let it dry, and vacuum it up. Works like a Charm.

Thanks Tom for clearing that up. I was also wrong on the new freshEra. There was an earlier lightweight that was made by TTI. I'm glad I was wrong about the new FreshEra, I need to go check it out soon over at our ailing Lux dealer's place.

I'm also glad that we can give proper and credible information on here. I've been dying to clear up the non-existant "new upright" that is not coming out in April. Reminds me of the totally new and redesigned Kirby that was supposed to come out..hmmm..last February I believe?

Fresh Era by Aerus

Hi Chris:
The Fresh-Era upright is still built in the same factory where they made Hoover, Royal, and Rubbermaid ultralite models under private labels. The Fresh-Era uses a slightly longer brush roller, has a headlight that the other 'versions' do not, as well as a unique color and bumper guard. The Fresh-Era is actually a really good upright in the light weight class. Aerus bags for the Lux Lite and Fresh-Era are slightly thicker than the Royal/Hoover type B bags.
