Dan, please let us know what type of feedback you get from your contacts on fixing/upgrading the power nozzle on/off issue. Thx

Christopher

you are so right they never really left its just that this Platinum is the modern day Renny . I didn`t like my Ultra`s until I forgot about the bag and when it was time to change it WOW it was packed and weighed a ton that changed my mind and not once did the suction diminish .I have loved Aerus for years and have purchased over 100 for friends and family members. My favorite vacuum is Kirby but I consider it a vacuum that I and Vacuum collectors love and a select few but my second favorite is Aerus which is the machine I feel is the BEST machine for everyone that's why I purchase them for everyone . I have purchased a Kirby for my mom and sister and they both didn't like the bulky heavy Kirby`s .

Curtis ,
as soon as I call them I will let everyone know .

Bag Full/Auto Shutoff??

Dan, is this setting controllable by the user or is it a fixed setting?

Also, do you suppose it's worth waiting to find one with the P/N fix already installed? I'm doubtful about the availability of the most current inventory in my area. At one time Houston had 4 dealers and that has dwindled down to one. Hard to believe in a town that size! I'm going to look at one tomorrow just so I can see for myself.

NO WORD YET

Hi Dan,

Everyone up here says they know nothing as far as actual details about the new upright and power nozzle updates that are forthcoming. I would like to see the new nozzle and the software update along with a return to the Silverado Deluxe metal wand with additional wands for the combo rug. Made in Bristol, Va would be nice too. I ABSOLUTELY HATE these reverse fit Wal-Mart wands and have made this more than clear to the president of Lux and the chief engineer. Poor quality and lack of creativity and engineering prowess I believe is how I described it. I am hearing there are some new water systems for next month though, I do wish these guys spent more time fixing the vacuum/bag business and less time on a product line that almost sank them in the late Consolidated Foods era. Some just never learn! As soon as I know what is up I will let you guys know. On a side note I also heard Electric Sweeper was doing training seminars at some Lux USA franchises and that they are now outsourcing even more responsibilities.

Brian....

How does the aroma chamber on the exhaust work. Does Aerus sell the Aroma Therpy to go in it or do you just use a cotton ball with Essential Oils?

Thanks,

I would also like to know about the aroma cup. I guess it would be best to ask an Aerus salesman. I don't understand the total hostility some feel about the wand system. I like the direct connect locking feature of them and the fact you can use all electric and non-electric tools on them. Some kind of a sliding feature would help so you can fold it down for storage. I never found them "bulky" or difficult to use. I like the handle too. Somehow I don't think they will abandon this style of wand due to the fact you can use the Sidekick and the power nozzle on both wands. By the way, what is Electric Sweeper? And who is doing more outsourcing? Do you mean Aerus is outsourcing?

A Few Things Lux

I had an opportunity to see two of the new Lux water conditioning units yesterday. Very nice quality units. They are also to be introduced this coming month. The Sauber About Us section of their website says there are more new Sensitive Choice vacuums coming soon as well as central units too. I am thinking Lux USA and AG are more in bed together than we originally thought. Aerus is manufacturing the FloorPro/B100 for Lux International and it is currently being sold in South America. It can be seen on the Lux Equador website. I saw one of the newer nozzles for the Platinum as well but not the rumored new one. They have changed the cover color to blue-black and it does not look right with the wands and elbow. I prefer the one that is Tristar black with the aluminum decal like Mike, Dan and I have. They are also having issues with the contacts (contact block) in the push/pull hose connector that short circuits the main board in the unit requiring total disassembly and replacement. The replacement process is said to be the most fun you can have with your clothes on. A modern Renne with an Oxygen-type build setup. Using the Silverado-style hose connector would have avoided this nonsense in the first place. They are changing the hose and always stand behind their product. I love mine nontheless.

Electromatic,

I am not sure I would call my feelings hostile toward the Tristar wands. They work well, are easy to repair and extremely light. The problem for me is they don't belong on a $2700.00 vacuum when every other machine on the market comes with nice metal or telescoping wands. It is another example of Lux ramming something that is easy for the them to manufacture (read that to mean cheap manufacturing costs) along with cheap cords (Unicable), Chinese power nozzle motors (JEI) and Chinese armature bearings down the everyone's throat and it has been this way for years. Maybe we could paint the machines green and yellow and call them John Deere since they operate the same way. The new tractor I am looking at for $18K has more chinese parts on it than my last Chinese girlfriend. Two of my favorite companies Bang and Olufsen and Rolex have remained true to their values and for the price they command. It's about time Aerus Lux did the same. I am very fussy about engineering and build quality, especially when my income was directly related to it for so many years.

Dan,

Rainbow guy said today they have introduced another power nozzle with a lux-style side driven gear belt. Do you have it or have you seen it? I am thinking about buying a new E-series.

Brian

Wow that PN doesn't sound right with a color that doesn't match ?

I am going to call my Rainbow guy and find out about the new PN and am gonna have to buy it so I will let you guys know and post it as soon as I get it .

Thanks for the updates Brian I hope they get this platinum fixed I love mine its an awesome vacuum .

Dan

Will the newer platinum machines come automatically with the new PN.? Not sure if I like the idea of an unmatching color either.

Do any of you hi tech guys know how to add a link on this thread to the original thread Dan started. ?

P/N Cover

Mike,

The newer cover looks like it is similar to the side runners of the canister itself. Kinda the inky-navy black and it sticks out like a sore thumb next to the wands, elbow and power nozzle rubbers. I would not want one for sure. If you see the Aerus video corporate released you can see the color is off. Up close and personal I didn't care for it at all. They had similar issues with the blacks on the 1521's when they made the black and chrome units for the salesmen when they ceased metal production in 1992. I heard the cover is shipping now and also parts and supplies are extremely difficult to get eg. hoses, swissaroma scents and additional wands.

Brian

I got two additional wands from tristar that are exactly the same as the platinum wands. My local guy got me and extra combo dust tool and adapter. I am sure they will catch up on the parts backlog soon.

Thanks funeraldirector:

I love your in depth corporate updates about what's happening on the ground. I am sorry to hear that about the push/pull technology. I hope that can be worked out because I thought it was handy. Technological advancement sometimes comes with setbacks. It is trial and error. I agree that metal wands look better. I too like the telescopic system but electrified telescopic wands have proven so problematic for the other companies. It seems they are in the shop for repairs at high rates. Also, I don't know of any telescopic system that will allow you to use an electric mininozzle and power nozzle on the wands AND the handle. Most telescopic wand equipped vacuums use an air driven tool which I hate. Rainbow has a similar setup but with metal wands, so Aerus isn't the only ones not using a telescopic wand. I guess we are nitpicky and want a perfect vacuum but there is no perfect vacuum (lol). I regret to hear all these problems again. It sounds like another Renaissance and we know how they reacted last time. They began stripping features until we all thought they were a goner. For once I wish they would work it out ant stick with it. None of these bugs sound insurmountable compared to the automatic shut off/ejection system. If they made THAT work surely they could get a hose port to work.

My legacy that is now used up in our north Ga mountain cabin is over ten years old. Never had a problem with the wands..

Interesting information Brian on the push pull. So far no prooblem with mine but is that something they will change on the current machines if the problem develops. Thanks. Love your knowledge on Aerus lux and their products.

Well, I must say I do like this new Aerus Platinum, & am tempted to buy one. It looks like an awesome cleaner!! Having said that, I am gonna wait a year or two until they resolve the issues they are having....namely the hose contacts, leaky bags, PN cover being offcolor, etc. I agree that this Platinum, although good, is a "lemon" to some degree like the Renny was at first.

As to the issue of bags & filtration, I agree with most here that the HEPA Cloth bags for the Sauber Intelligence would be overkill to bring them here. It already has a HEPA filter before & after the motor, & is a sealed system....how much more do you need?! The only issue now is making sure the bags don't leak so much dust it shortens the life of the pre-motor HEPA filter. As for the paper Home Solutions bags, though, I would like to see some improvements to their bags in general. One thing I have noticed that is a problem with Aerus-Electrolux bags is the blue sealing strip that holds them together in the back. What I have found over the years, whether using the yellow GermGrabber bags, blue Home Solutions bags, or DVC Multi-Filter 4 ply bags, is that there is at least 2 or 3 in a 12-pack of bags where the sealing strip fails & the bag breaks in the back. For this reason, I only use the Perfect or JohnnyVac HEPA Cloth bags in my Luxes with no afterfilter, like my Grand Marquise, or I use the Arm & Hammer "C" bags from WalMart in machines I use paper bags in, as they are folded over & glued in back like conventional bags are made.

As to the bags failing on the Platinum, I have to wonder whether the suction from the Platinum is too strong for the bags, & it is causing the sealing strip to fail prematurely. One way to find this out would be for Perfect Canister owners who use the paper bags to add their input here, seeing the suction is just as strong on them.

Now, I have a question for Funeraldirector....what is up with the pre-motor HEPA filter?? On the YouTube videos I have seen for the Sauber Intelligence, it says this filter is a Washable HEPA filter....yet the Aerus Platinum is suggesting it be replaced, & says every 6 months or whenever the change filter light comes on. So, is it designed to be washed, dried & replaced in the cleaner, or is it a disposable HEPA filter? And WHY would they not make it a Washable HEPA filter for the North American market if they already have a disposable Sealed True HEPA filter in the back? Seems a bit overkill to have TWO disposable HEPA filters in one vacuum.
