Miele or Lux

Hi,

I actually had both. You would do well to stick with the Miele Earth until Aerus fixes the Lux Guardian It is way too loud, has way too much suction with no ability to lessen it. The air control valve is useless to reduce the airflow. When you try to vacuum furniture or bedspreads with the sidekick it will actually stall out. The suction separates the inner liner of the bag from the outer paper bag. This exposes just the outer bag making the liner useless. Aerus is supposed to be fixing this. I actually sent them bags for their engineers to look at when I found the problem and reported it to them. This vacuum needs a variable speed motor like the Miele's. Don't get me wrong, I am a true Electrolux fan and am disappointed in the Lux Guardian Ultra. I recently bought a Lux Legacy brand new in box on Ebay. It has air escaping from the carry handle. Don't know if this is a big problem or not. I pm'd someone on the Abby's forum about this and he said it depends on whether the air is coming from the exhaust port after the exhaust filter or whether their is a leak before that, which in turn would reduce cleaning effectiveness. Ok I did not intend to go into all this detail.

Pro's and Con's for me

Lux manuevers better and is lighter.
Lux power nozzle has L shape and Miele doesn't. The Miele Power Nozzle cleans better than the lux. (Lux has too soft a brush roll now and it does not fluff the nap as well. I tried to get a stiffer brush and was told they only make this one now.)
Miele has onboard tools, the Lux is on the handle now with the Ultra.
Miele's hepa filter is better built.
Miele's bags at this point are much better.
I mentioned the suction control on the Lux. If you vacuum drapes or something delicate, they will get sucked in and wrinkle. (Had to press my drapes).
I do like the auto shutoff when it's time to change the bag on the lux, but you loose the control of how full you want the bag to get. It is set to normal from the factory.

Anyway those are just my experiences with both machines. I think for the money, you get more with the Miele at this point. Which ever one you choose, you will still get a good vacuum.

I'd go for the Miele.... the new Lux machines do not impress me at all, and if you don't have a Miele, you need one.... everyone should have at least one!

thanks guys i think i might go with the miele i like it better. and ive been wanting one forever. i just need to get rid of my rainbow e. anyone want to bit . im selling it for 450. or more. .

@Bud

I think the air that you noticed escaping from the carrying handle on your Legacy is the exhaust air. When I had my Epic 6500 I noticed the same thing. I have an Epic 6000 now but I dont use it very often so I havent noticed if it does the same thing. I check it out tomorrow night and report my finds. The Lux is not "sealed" the way a Miele is so I think the strong force from the exhaust beneath the on board tools, is also forced under control panel and into the carrying handle.

My vote for a brand new vac is for Miele. Electrolux is the vacuum that started my love of vacuums, probably around age 2, and I still love them. However, if you are trying to be a savy shopper and get the greatest bang for your buck, I think the Miele is the way to go. They are quiet, filter well, have a variable speed motor, wonderful bags, and the SEB236 power nozzle is absolutely awesome!! I traded my 6500 and Renaissance in for a brand new Red Velvet and later added a Blue Moon because I was so please with their preformance compared to the Luxes I had been using for years. I dont think you will be disappointed with the Miele, especially if you already have a Kirby and appreciate a well made deep cleaning vac.

rexaird. email me at [email protected] i dont have a digtal camera but i can take pics with my phone. it comes with the tool and power head and shampoor it hooks with to the sink....

I cant think of any mass marketed machine off the top of my head that is sealed like a Miele. I dont know if they were the first to pioneer the completely sealed system, but its something that Miele has been priding themselves on for years. The sealed system makes complete sense considering the high filtration bags and HEPA filter. If the system is not sealed, then it seems that you defeat the purpose of spending more money on a machine which has a HEPA filter slapped on top of it but can leak dusk from many other places before its exhaust even reaches the HEPA filter. This was factor in my decission to purchase a Miele, and its a testimet to their quality engineering.

can some help me explain y the miele does down to 0 on the scaner . i know its bc its sealed. but ii want a little more detailed becuse my friend doesnt think a vacuum like the miele can really remore 100 percent or even close. so can some one help me out?

Sealed vs non Sealed Luxes

First off, the Guardian Ultra Lux is a sealed unit. The Legacy model is not sealed.

The Miele and Lux both have their pluses and minuses. Either way, it comes down to what you are most comfortable with.
