Metal Fan or Plastic Fan?

It has 10 blades. It is hard to tell if this is a metal or plastic fan. I think it's metal, because the Eureka Plastic Fans are clear.

So would you say this was made after 1978? That means it's going to sound like an SC886. Idk why people like to replace those awesome metal motors, unless it was made after 1978.

Yes, unless this cleaner has a motor assembly from a 1978 or later model.

I would think this machine was made after 1978, mainly because of the plastic motor. This looks late 70s early 80s. So it's going to sound like a SC886 then. That's alright. I was kind of hoping it would have a metal motor. It does not look like the motor was replaced.

If you prefer a metal fan you can switch it out with one. They still make them. The Koblenz Industrial is kind of a Sanitaire knock-off and uses a steel fan.

When the Vacuum Cleaner Hospital was open and operating here-Bill the owner-operator serviced the Sanitaire vacuums used by ECU here.Since the plastic fans--and fancases were wearing out from the sandy dirt tracked in--they insisted on metal fans--he was able to get some--beleive it was the same fan that Koblentz uses-they are not steel but an aluminun alloy-same as Royal uses.And Bill was able to get steel fancase liners for the Sanitiares-these were good if the orig fancase was badly worn or cracked.You cement the steel one in place-and away you go!Can't remember the supplier he got the fans and fancases from.Would be helpful to Sanitiare users that use their machines a lot esp under tough conditions that quickly wear out or break the plastic fans and fancases.The sandy dirt here is tough on the plastic Kirby fans,too-lots get replaced here from erosion.-Yes,even new Sentria fans.
