Lucy Loves Westinghouse!

Help Support VacuumLand:

Don't think I remember seeing this one before, but I do remember that Westinghouse was one of their sponsors. Looking at this pic I can imagine Desi saying, "Loozee, you got some splainin' to do! Now tell the people out there about all these fine Westin-gouse appliances!"
I do remember seeing a video for another commercial they were in with Fred and Ethel (William Frawley and Vivian Vance) and Westinghouse spokeswoman and cookbook writer Betty Furness where they were promoting a national sale that Westinghouse was having. Always got a laugh out of the way Desi said "Westin-gouse!"

Wasn't Lucy also promoting Hoover vacuums as well. Seems that I have seen Lucy with one of the Hoover cylnder vacuums of the day in advertisements?

Electrolux memorabilia

Hello all, I'm new to the website and after doing some digging, found Charles Lester's informative history of Electrolux vacuums in the US. You mentioned you are looking for additional material and I have quite a bit. My grandfather, Clarence E. Stevens, was VP in charge of production for Electrolux in the 1930s, helping to set up the Old Greenwich factory. After the war he worked at Filtex here in LA. I have lots of photos, Electrolux News, letters, etc. He holds a few patents for parts such as nozzles and was somehow part of the Filtex Central Vacuum system. All very fascinating stuff. As all those folks are gone now, I'd love to learn more. Thanks very much, Chip Stevens
