Attention all Lewyt Fans:
there is a Lewyt model 40 complete with attachments and box on ebay with starting price of $50. Just wanted to let anyone who is interested know

fyi

I was at a thrift store and found like 5 bags of lewyt cannister bags..Does anybody need them I will go back and get them?? Also a bunch of uprgith electrolux bags like 50 of them.

well it went to some lucky guy in Canada

Hmmmm...D?

LOL

Came in on 6 sec
& ran away with it for $50

box & documentation
nice catch

Good price for nice clean orig looking machine & from most likely one of us...crazy for vacs...

I like ones I can use & the felt on the cone part scares me
but would have loved to play with it...

Yup, that would be me. I bid $54.99 figuring I wanted it, but the shipping will be horrendous, and some one else would surely outbid me big time...but if they didn't it would be a bullet I could take. :-)

If ya don't try...you never know what might happen. So here I am with another hole in my head and an original 1947-49 Lewyt Model 40 virtually on the way with all the parts and the carton. Hose leaks? No problem with my latex treatmnent. I think I got a bargain.

From Roselle Illinois...perhaps the seller is a VCCC poster, too? Mmm, matching gray carpet.

I thought it was you

I save a vac sense...
LOL

If I hadn't gotten the filter queen
I might have
I watched it go down second by second

but its an old machine
hose leaks good you can fix
& I worry about wiring
but you can fix that too

Least it went to someone who will appreciate it.

Its a nice one
I like the first 2 models as they mimic the filter queen
but I;ll stick with the filter queen & stay out of the 40's
but for a Lewyt its the best years
& before the crappy wiring...

OoOh you must tell us how it sounds
supposed to be quiet
I like quiet powerful vacs

I knew it was you...
well was 99/100 sure

Hehehehe

Actually the shipping to CAl n CAn is not that different
least Ill is close to the border

someone said it would cost $70 to ship a filter queen to me from Ohio...now thats a bit steep even for usps...

The person says he knows of only one other
I thought of Charles
but you have one too...

Its someone who collects vacs & probably has visited here.

with bix & attachemnts
you definitely got a bargain as they don't come up everyday
guess this collector has other tastes & needs some cash.

Hope he's happy with the $50 as its really worth more.

Charles has a superb ultra-complete Model 44 - 1950/51.

This newest eBay surprise bargain is a first generation Model 40 - 1947/49 and does not use paper dust bags; the 40 and 44 collect the dirt in the tub like a Filter Queen.

I have a Model 55 - 1952/54 canister only, gift of Mr Smith, in rough shape. By then Lewyt had done away with the extender pole with cloth dust filter 'tent' mimicing the FQ cone (litigation resolution?) and it uses paper dust bags fitted over the inlet inside the tub. I have an original bag of Bags for it. There is still a red cloth motor filter but it is flat like a drumhead to allow room for the bag underneath.

Btw, while they have the same idea for hose attachment, the Lewyt uses a 4 lug connector while the FQ uses a 3 lug arrangement, so they are incompatible. :-(

I do have a thing for the model variations within a brand. :-)

yep 47 to 49

I was researching it
my thoughts were it was early
think they were using filter queen filters on it
looked at the attach was hoping a new filter queen hose might fit
but didn't notice the extra pin
definite copying going on but don't like the felt cone

when u get it we'll know when you open it up & do an exploratory
poor girl
be easy on her
she looks pretty clean
probably spent many a year in that dark box waiting for the light...

LOL
