I found an LED bulb to replace the bayonet base bulbs for Royal uprights that use the 120v bulb. The size and fit is identical to the original. The difference in performance is amazing! The LED is several times brighter and whiter, and fills a much larger area of floor. It is a Feit brand and uses 3 watts instead if 25. I found mine at our local Ace Hardware, but you can find them on the internet from various retailers including Amazon from about $8-10. The pictures show the difference, but in person the different is more impressive. I know this bulb is used in many vintage vacuums and power heads including my old Eureka Model M.

Hey

There are many LED bulbs that work. It has to be a ba15d dual polarity baynet style bulb. The bulbs fit royal , Kirby 505 d8 and it fits my sanitare s667. There is a brand that starts with y that makes bedt bulbs. I found a green led for my d80. The key is dual polarity.

Thanks, the 5700 Stark/Royal I got a while back is missing the bulb and I've been thinking of finding one. I have a Ace 5 blocks from my house and a Home Depot a few miles away. The 5k led bulbs I put in all the lights here are very bright and throw a ton of light.
