Yes, of course, forgot all about that disconnect Ryan... :-(.

As a matter of fact, in searching the net for specs on the Hoover Linx stick vac, I came upon video clips for the Vax version. 18 volts on the TTI stick vac versus 30 volts for the Candy stick vac...quite a difference there, huh?

Yep but at the time I think Vax did promote the LiFE/Linx quite heavily with the 18V claimed as being the most powerful cordless stick vac. Then Rowenta brought out one (the Delta Force) I tried at John Lewis with a strange triangular right angle head that worked in theory but the angled head didn't make much sense to me - it claimed to also have 18V. Hoover's latest one obviously wants to outdo the rest with more power, namely also its "Turbo Power," boost button etc, but nothing new there to anyone else who has had similar cordless stick vacs in the past with a similar feature.

It would be good to see the Athen join the Hoover UK product list but Hoover UK tend to be slow with releases of other products that are available in other continents. I still haven't forgotten how Hoover cheated fans of the brand with their "Junior," stick vac - I had two of them - but it was just a renamed Athyss corded stick vac that other European countries have had from Hoover.

I don't believe it, well.. actually it doesn't surprise me in the least...

Remember the old thread I created about the Starlyf Cyclonic Vac? Previous thread also referred to an Oreck Electrikbroom Cordless version. Well I just found an Electrolux cordless stick vacuum with a suspiciously looking similar handle and parts. Its the Starlyf again, but under yet again another brand name. Enter the UK market Electrolux QuickClean. It first came to the UK in 2006 and was taken out of the market and now seems to be on sale again at Tesco.com!

Can't understand the 4 star ratings buyers have given this model when half of them complain that the suction isn't very good.

It makes me wonder why the supermarkets don't bring out a corded bagless stick vac instead of churning out those Vax based cylinder vacs that only have 1.5 litre dust capacities. Years ago I bought a corded stick vac for one of my pals as a house warming gift from Lakeland. They still have it and it works really well as a quick dust vacuum even though it lacks a moving brush roll.

New Vax cylinder vacuum cleaner (bagged) that claims to be very quite (65 decibels). Only in France & other European countries at the moment - the C90-42S-HE and 430 Silence/ C90-43S-HE (4 litre bag capacity puts it in directly into Miele S6 territory as well as a 6.5 metre cord, HEPA H12 filter & a 1.7 metre hose).

Can't say it isn't modern looking!

New "Genie" vacs

I know I may not have much business on this thread, but I happened to be browsing some UK websites and I spied some new budget vacs that I have been able to use over here under the dirt devil name, and that I feel are noteworthy. First is a new Genie cylinder vac. I got to use the dirt devil when one was brought in for repair at the shop I work in. When I decided to try it out I expected a cheep, noisy, mediocre vac but I was suprised when I was greeted by a rather low noise level, great suction, great pickup, and a light yet solid feel. I liked it so much that I vacuumed half the store with it and ended up with a canister full of dust. I kinda want one now!

Next, the upright

And the new Genie upright, this is one that I own and I found at a thrift store. When I found the machine it seemed like the previous owner had filled the bin with plaster, then donated it, I could not pass it up as it looked new. First, the machine has a reasonable noise level, good suction and good preformance on carpets, but what makes it for me is the fact that it has a filterless dust bin with a very efficient half hour glass bin shape which keeps the filter very clean over time. Plus great hard floor cleaning, good hose length, a very light design, a fold down handle and a very nice, soft dust brush.
