What are you talking about?! Dyson vacuums are the most bestest vacuums evers....if you were in an insane asylum for the ridiculously idiotic. For the criminally silly, for the laughably incorrigible beyond all hope of mental repair! But we wise many know better. This little 5O5 beauty can eat five or six of them greasy, plastic, toxic, explosive, fire hazard, nasty vacs for breakfast and blow them all out for lunch....Just like that!!!

When the Egyptians were constructing the pyramids. When the Druids were erecting Stonehenge's obelisks. When the Easter Islanders made ready their last monolith. They could have never envisioned the permanence of James Kirby's dream. A dream of utter perfection in the form and utility of a beautiful machine! However, a Dyson and the like were most probably contemplated by its creator, whilst he was situated on the can. I guess we can all say, he's best idea went down the drain! For it really seems, a lot of these " so called " modern plastic vacs come from the fertile cesspools of their author's minds...not even second rate...not even close!

Holiday Joy-is that vacuuming the pine needles that fell off your Christmas tree---and after they get into the Kirby-esp with the direct air action partially pulverizing the needles-releasing their scent!

Thanks clemtrj, it was straight from the heart! The truth can often seem cruel, but nevertheless, it makes it no less true. Long live Kirby!

I am NOT a vacuum cleaner collector. Honestly. I've been vacuuming my whole life (soon to be 60 years), and I never worked with Kirby, until recently.

Three weeks ago vintage Omega was given to me, and I was blown away/sucked in! Then I tracked down 515, and yesterday I put "WANTED" add on Craigs, despite my wife's horror. I am NOT interested in any other brands/makes! None.

There is something in these machines that transcends decades and human lives. I am interested in adding only two more to the family, Dual Sanitronic 80 (1967) in avocado green, and something else (haven't decided yet about the last one). They will all be restored to new condition (by me, NOT by the factory), and they will work daily. They'll have their bags emptied every day, wiped down, and put on "display" again.

Since the 60s, I must've used just about every vacuum cleaner available (except Kirby). There are machines out there that clean as good (or better) than Kirby. There are machines that are more "user friendly". But what I get from vintage Kirbys is a combination of performance, durability, sound, and artful design. No other machine has all that in my eyes. When you see one of these 500 series machines, all dolled up, in action, you bow down to the inventor/designer, that created something timeless like that.

And that's it. I'm hooked on Kirby.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Daniel, your beautiful testimony spoke to me like poetry, pure poetry! Well said, well said!

vacuser, what can I say, but Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may your house always remain super Kirby clean...Amen!
