Calling all Kirby experts! I have a vintage Kirby Omega that needs a little help. It runs great but blows dust out of the bottom of the bag. I know I need the gasket that seats the coupling attached to the bottom of the bag to the machine, but even more, I need the "coupler" that the bag attaches to. Mine is plastic and is stripped out, so it does not seat very well. I combed fleabay and only found the gasket. Any ideas?
I also need to clean it up, the metal is pretty rough. Suggestions? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like your machine has been converted over to use paper bags, if the coupler is plastic correct? If it is one of those F&G converter bags you can use a Kirby belt to create a seal(or so I'm told). I have several of those F&G couplers that I received with some other kirby parts. Just pay postage and I'll send you one. You can email me.

Here is the website where I got the tip from. [this post was last edited: 9/11/2014-13:34]

I don't think I was clear in my previous post. I took some pictures of both parts. If your Kirby is setup to use F&G disposable bags then you will need the coupler shown in the first picture. If you have a genuine Kirby bag setup then you will need the mini-emtor as shown in the last picture. You should be able to find the mini-emptors on eBay quite easily.

Kirby Omega coupler

Kloveland!
Thank you! Yes you absolutely correct. It has been converted to F and G bag use. The mini-emptor is gone and it uses a coupling that "locks" on three pins to the body of the vacuum. It is made of plastic and one of the locking channels is striped (sic?) out. So it blows dust everywhere due to a lack of a good seal. I have ordered the seal.
I read on the blog that the bag conversion destroys the air flow and slows the pick up. I have not found that to be true with this machine. It will lift the wall to wall carpet off the floor! So I will stay with the conversion for now.
You went to so much trouble to post the photos and include the information. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the response.
I would like to get the connector from you and try it first before buying a emptor and new/old style bag. It is for my sister and I know she would never shake a bag out!

Ken,

To rebuild the shake out bag system that came with your machine originally, these are the replacement parts to use (most are NLA from Kirby):

180069S - Emtor casting, polished
186073S - Emtor tray bottom, rosewood
186182 - Emtor tray gasket
188087 - Emtor/Mini Emtor exhaust gasket
190073S - Bag complete w/pocket (please note: bag cloth will be black instead of gold!)
191673 - Bag guard, rosewood
191762 - Bag top wire
191873 - Bag top plastic cover, rosewood
192173 - Bag top wire loop

You may want to chage over from the F&G conversion to Kirby's mini emptor. You will be amazed at the increase in air flow and performance. That mini emptor even increases the 500 series and dual sanitroics performance even better than they do with the shake out bag. I have used the mini emptor on the classic and classic omega. It is the best set up for these machines.
