Hi All!

I am in the process of restoring a Kirby Generation 3 for my best friend. I'm having a hard time getting the plastic piece under the headlight hood to "rehook" to the aluminum tab, AND the notched screws are not threading into the light lens. I recently restored a Kirby G4 for another friend and had a similar problem. It seems like the screws will not align with the threaded holes in the light lens through the holes of the plastic tabs. Any advice or helpful hints would be very much appreciated from this population of vacuum experts!

Cheers,
Charles

I think your plastic trim is not aligned with the aluminum. I don't know how did you take it apart, but in order to align everything right, the headlight cap needs to be detached from the top of the motor. You put the plastic in the right spots on the aluminum, tighten everything, and lastly attach the complete hood assembly to the top of the motor housing with two screws.

Post some pics of the issue you are having, if you can. It would be easier to understand what's going on.

1. it doesn't look like you have the upper tabs hooked in at the top

and

2. thats because you have the 2 lower tabs on the wrong side of the metal housing. The tabs should be between the metal and the lens and then the screws go in the metal bar and into the lens.
