Hello All and Kirby Experts,
Okay in the 70’s and early 80’s I worked for a shop. I do not remember working on anything newer than a Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80. Back then the big thing for all the older Kirbys was putting on the wide wheels for shag carpeting, front bearings and leaking bags. So you see this 1-CB for me is a modern machine, LOL. Now it does seem to be a good running machine, the motor is great, the brush roll is good and while dull it is not all scratched up. I have been reading up on it and it seems it is improved over the 1-CR, so that is good. It is more powerful than my D50 and D80, so that is also good. I do have questions for you. Seems it has a 1-CR bag, please let me know if I am correct in thinking that. The patch does not say Omega but it looks like the material, cloth, is correct. The bag does have a small hole under the topper which can be fixed easily I believe. I also read that there were several different bags for the 1-CB so that is my reason for the question. The safety switch is cracked but still working and I noticed the replacement pricing is all over the place from $27.00 to $50.00 and they all have Kirby on them, so like what do I do. Now I have never seen this small strange clip on the brush roll holder and it is only on one side, should there be 2 of them? Please let me know the answers. I was going to tear the 1-CB apart as I needed a fan for the D80, but the 1-CB kind of seems too nice to do that plus I ordered and received the new plastic Kirby fan and I don’t think it will be the only D80 on the block with a plastic fan, right. You know I need a green cord for the D80 and when I was at the shop it was just a phone call away, and now extinct. Well I am getting there too.
Thank you for looking and yes I yak a lot.
Pete
