Kenny came to Kansas City for a visit this weekend since he and I are both off for the MLK holiday. We went thrifting and to estate sales yesterday and found some pretty cool vacuums. We found a Hoover Convertible 34 Special, a Hoover Convertible Model 707, a Hoover Celebrity and a Hoover Constellation Model 86. The Celebrity has the hose and outlet for a power nozzle but it didn't come with one. Anyways, just thought we'd share some of our neat finds.

Great finds you guys! There would be no such luck here - I can tell you that!

Funny though, I had always imagined Kenny being a little taller.

Fantastic machines!

Now, THAT'S what I call a Holiday Weekend...

Looks like you two made every minute count!

Wouldn't be surprised if you two set some kind of record for the most Hoover's bagged in a weekend.

VERY nice work! Congratulations!

Fabulous! Looks like a great weekend! I had some good estate sale finds this weekend, too!

That model 34 is one that's been eluding me for years. That and a model 35. Just never been able to find either one. And that 707 is probably the ugliest cleaner Hoover ever made, but it's like a train wreck... just can't stop staring at it! I have one packed away somewhere, I should pull it out one of these days.

Congratulations and thanks so much for sharing!

@euekaprince, regarding LIGHTER FLUID...

Your response reminded me of a "reprimand" that I got from Heloise - yes, THE Heloise - about four years ago....

I was on on her web-site, trying to pick up some hints, as you do, and someone had posted a question regarding those "bumper marks" on the plastic/vinyl strips that people put over their dust boards/baseboards at the bottom of the wall.

I suggested using carburetor cleaner - it comes in a spray can from the auto parts store. I first tried it when I had someone leave a mark on my car in a parking lot. Fairly much like WD-40, but it takes less scrubbing action....

ANYWAY - Heloise didn't like my response....using carboretor cleaner inside is bad for you....and she stated that, contrary to my opinion, IT SHOULD NEVER BE USED INSIDE THE HOME. Well, I DID get what she was saying, but, then, again, my baseboards ARE clean and stain free.

In fact, whilst I was REBUKED by Heloise, I will tell you this - when I have come up against a stubborn "skid-mark" on a vacuum that I have picked up, I still use carburetor cleaner and the stains seem to come right off brilliantly.

(Of course, because I know Heloise was interested ONLY in my safety, I TRY to do that outside...)

But, do try it...it's cheap, and it does the trick!
