I don't believe Sam's Progressive is from 2005. I think the last ones of that style were about 2004. In 2005 they came out with the second type that moved the filter door to the back and the Powermate Jr stored in a compartment on top. They also changed to the T shaped Powermate instead of the one like Sam's.
Rob, one small thing I noticed in what you said about the PN on the current vacuums. The PN on lime and orange canisters is very close to the ones on the white and blueberry Progressives. There is a slight difference though, as the lime and orange have the wheels on the side and the Progressives have them on the back. Also the reset button is square on the Progressive PN and round on the other two.
Sears seems to take the power nozzles from past generation Progressives and puts them on the lower end canisters when they change to a new model. The PN on Sam's Progressive for example, was later used on two lower end canisters, the guacamole and sky blue models from about 2005-2008.
