Kirby has a 12 ft stretch hose you can purchase for the G-series machines. You can also get a 50ft cord.

Riccar/Simplicity has a stretch hose for their uprights.

Hoover did for their Total System uprights as the hose would only reach up the stairs as far as that 1000 did, well, it is the same hose, but the extension was the same length as the original.
SEBO makes a HUGE extension hose for their uprights.
Kirby offer a stair cleaning stretch hose, which seems pretty pointless when you can yet it up as a “canister“ and just carry it with you.
Dyson offered a streth hose for their DC24, which I believe, even with it added to the original hose still doesn't get up the staits!
An extension hose is not really needed nowadays because if you spend more than £100 on a upright a full stair cleaning stretch hose comes as standard...Usually!

Oh dear JM, yet again wrong.

Even then if the vacuum in question is powerful enough, an added extension is dead handy for the car or other mobile areas that won't pull the machine over.

Alex - can you give me an exact size for what you qualify as "standard steps." ? Yet again Hoover have papped this off for years as a selling point - I know with my own Slalom that the hose can reach up to 9 steps if I'm lucky - and it claims to have a full stretch hose. Brands that continually sell on the idea of stair cleaning hoses are great - until it comes to actual reality.

Ryan...

I can't give you an exact size but if a “standard“ flight of 13 stairs has a step that is 9 inches in diameter and a riser that is 8 inches high, if that is the “standard“ size then it should stetch up every staircase that has the same or very similar measurements.
I got the measurements from my stairs. You must not forget that Hoover “claimed“ that the Staircleaning hose would stretch up a STANDARD flight of 13 stairs.

You might just be able to see it, but it says... "The new unique stair cleaning hose is designed to stretch to the top of an average stair case (around 13 stairs) and also includes a specially designed stair grooming tool."

I already have that brochure.

One thing you must be aware of by now is that marketing speak and reality are two very different aspects of vacuum cleaner ownership. A perfect example leading from that very brochure would be the Permabag - if you've had one, they're dusty and they're not as perfect as Hoover would have you believe.

Tacony makes a 15 foot extension hose called the 'stair cleaning kit' that also includes a turbo brush, connected to the on-board hose of the vacuum, will reach 20 feet. More than enough reach for U.S. stair cases. It's available for both our uprights as well as canister vacuum sweepers.

"Oh dear JM, yet again wrong.

Even then if the vacuum in question is powerful enough, an added extension is dead handy for the car or other mobile areas that won't pull the machine over." How am I wrong, and where did I say that an extension was not handy? I am confused.

I will agree that with the original Permabag System on the Turbopower 1 that Hoover were off their rocker!! It was truely GOD AWFUL!! The Permabag system 2 for Turbopower 2/3 and 1000 was not bad at all, it didn't really loose suction at all compared to the origianl and from my experience from using both of my Permabag System 2's...They don't leak! It is still a little messy to emty, not as messy as the original but it is no messier than one of those Vax swift machines, it would probably be cleaner to emty a Permabag System 2.

JM - Reply 15 regarding no manufacturer selling hoses.

Alex - From memory I only got one quarter of "4 quarters" at the bottom of the after market Permabag box I bought many years ago to try out in my TP2/U2464. From then on it lost suction and couldn't effectively seal the dust in, leaking badly. From memory it wasn't really that effective and using a dust bag was far better.

The Permabag in the Turbomaster was a better design however - it wasn't the same machine being U.S based and a far better design all round.

even

though the hose stretches to the top of the stairs you cant clean very comfortably with it when its stretched to its limits . My sister would use hers the other way round IE vac at the top of the stairs with the hose through the bars so even if it tips over it cant follow you down the stairs
