I saw this from a distance last night sitting next to a pile of trash and had to stop and grab it. This vacuum is absolutely flawless other than the power drive cable being snapped right where it connects to the handle mechanism. I am going to get that replaced though. All I had to was throw new belts on it and give it a good cleaning and it is as good as new! It even came with all of that attachments that are practically unused, and literally, a brand new bag and exhaust filter installed! The headlight and dirt finder also works! I was told that this model was a Sears Exclusive, and it is from 2005. I am excited to get the power drive going!

Not a bad looking machine, I wonder how these do for cleaning? I was always curious, especially about the self-propelled-ness.

The suction is unbelievable on these machines. They are also very good deep cleaners and have some very stiff bristles!

It will be an excellent cleaner. For me, any of the Hoover self propelled machines were very jerky. Eureka and Kirby held the market with self propelled. Both were much smoother then Hoover.

I would love to find a non-self propelled Hoover Dail-A-Matic in good shape and a Concept One. Have both machines now with self propell, but don't use them.

We used to have one of these

at work. They do work pretty well.

However, I alwyas found the "clean" light to be quite amusing. I always wondered about if it never came on, would someone continue to keep vacuuming over and over and over until it came on? =0)

What neighborhoods are you finding all these trash/vacuum finds in? so I can go look there...hahahaha I never seem to see any vacs or anything in the trash.

Wow, Chase, congrats. Is this your first experience with a Self-Propelled Windtunnel? Do you have any others?

It is amazing you found that with neither of the sliders broken off and the attachments included. It's an awesome color! When I sold them at Sears back in 02, they just had the Hunter Green one. Yours looks just about brand new! I'd have to say mine is probably my most favorite modern vacuum. It does suck about the cable though.... I always warn people never to pick a self-propelled machine up by the hand grip... EVER!

I do have..

a green Windtunnel Ultra Self Propelled from 2002. It runs, but the brushroll bearings are pretty bent up, cord clips broke, handle release broken. It is just a mess, so I was happy to find this one. I really do love these machines though.
I am pretty sure that is how the cable must have snapped, from picking it up from the handle to much. It really is a shame

I have told people not to pick up that way hundreds of times, have seen too many broken cables, like most.

Awesome!! I have a charcoal/silver one, I like it alot. Another curb find, the foot lever that holds the back was broken and one attachment was missing (4 days later I found a parts donor also curbside 10 miles away when I was going to the store).

Surprising what you can find. : )

Yes, for a lower budget cleaner these are quite exceptional for carpet cleaning.

I got hold of a pre-TTI "factory re-manufactured" SP WindTunnel at a locally owned department store about a month ago. Still has the older brush roll design too. I couldn't beat the asking price for a "new" WindTunnel. I'm not big on Hoover but this is one of the modern models from them that I do enjoy. Oddly high amounts of airflow to accompany the high water lift. Usually on cheaper clean air vacuums you get limited airflow. If you take care of these they do seem to last.
