Is this a Kirby Fan or to what?

I have had this fan for years and years with some old vacuum parts. I believe it may be an early Kirby fan. I sort of looks like I may have written C2 on it.
I have never worked on anything older than a Kirby 509 that I recall. It looks Kirby like and it is possible that it was not manufactured by Kirby but is a replacement fan from another manufacturer.

I might be a bit thick headed, but I do not understand what you mean Les. I the previous picture I had some old Royal front bearing plates that are going in the trash.
I know the new style the belt pulley is what keeps the fan blade in place but on the pictured used D80 fan and pulley look similar in design with a similar hole in the belt pulley. I do not remember the belt pulley separating from the original fan on older Kirby vacuums. I never rebuilt that many Kirby vacuums back in the day, so if I am wrong I apologize.

Kirby's 6 blade and 10 blade fans have the spindle where the belt spins.
Kirby's metal fans and spindles are 1 solid piece. Royal vacuums spindle is threaded onto the fan. If you look at your original post picture 4 the spindle is off.
On your reply post amodel Kirby 10 blade Kirby metal and a royal fan. Look at the Kirby 10 blade the back side has that spacer. The six blade has it too. Royal fans have a flat back. The Kirby 6 blade would have a spacer and be almost identical to the d80 fan on the back.
Kirby fan backs are not flat. Royal fans are flat.
Look at the back of the white Kirby fan. It has a rounded design. Identical to the 10 blade.

Oh, sorry to say none of the pictured fans with spindles/belt pulley are from a Royal vacuum but I have now pictured one. I will say I have no idea if the newer Royal fan attach the same way as the one pictured. Early Royal vacuums that have a revolving brush with the belt going around the spindle/belt pulley, the belt pulley did not screw into the but fan screws onto the end of the motor shaft and the spindle/belt pulley then screws onto the end of the motor shaft that is protruding threw the fan. As for the Kirby Kevlar fan more or less is attached in a similar way a Hoover Convertible fan is. The Kevlar fan will slip over the motor shaft with the bearing spacer going in the motor shaft first behind the fan and then the spindle/belt pulley is screwed on firmly. There are no threads in the Kevlar fan. All this being said the original Kirby fan is aluminum and the spindle/belt pulley is steel and can be knocked off the fan as pictured. The spindle has small teeth and is pressed onto the fan to assure the fan will not come loose and spin freely on the shaft which I think was smart of at the time. As I said I never worked on many Kirby vacuums in the 70s and I do not know if a 509, 519, D50 or D80 fan when ordered did or did not have the spindle/belt pulley pressed onto the fan.
So is the fan I am asking about still could be from GE vacuum, Kirby vacuum or something like a Hoover Lark or Hoover 115 vacuum. Sorry I am and can be a bit of a pain but I really would like to know what vacuum this fan is for.

It would also depend on if the shaft hole size of the (reverse-thread screw-on) Royal impeller fans is the same as the Kirby ones.

Correct. In the 1980s, Royal had three different reverse-thread screw-on impeller fans with varying shaft hole sizes:

1-053004-000 = 7/32" (0.22") dia. shaft hole (for most pre-1976 metal uprights with revolving brush; use with armature 1-801001-000 or 1-602001-000 and driveshaft 1-285261-000)

1-003004-000 = as above, but for pre-1976 model 311 straight-suction upright cleaners (using same armature 1-801001-000 or 1-602001-000).

1-608004-000 = 1/4" (0.25") dia. shaft hole (for 1976-1989 metal uprights, 3.0 or 4.5 amp, with revolving brush; use with armature 1-608001-000 [3.0 amp] or 1-880001-000 [4.5 amp] and driveshaft 1-608261-000)

1-311004-000 = as above, but for 1976-1985 model 311 straight-suction upright cleaners (also takes same armature 1-608001-000 [3.0 amp] or 1-880001-000 [4.5 amp])

1-620004-000 = 5/16" (0.31") dia. shaft hole (for 1984-1990 metal uprights, 5.4 or 6.0 amp, with revolving brush; use with armature 1-618001-000 [5.4 amp] or 1-620001-000 [6.0 amp] and driveshaft 1-618261-000)

Les, no, the spindle is on there - it is just how the picture was taken. The center part is blurry, meaning it is much closer to the camera. Compare to #5 of the sequence.
This does look like an early Kirby fan...

It may be I have 3 six blade fans. If I recall correctly your shaft broke off from belt lifter.
The first 2 pics 1949 royal metal fan.
Pic 3 509 and d80 impellers they are the same length
Pic 4 my d80 10 blade metal fan
Pic 5 my 509 original 6 blade fan.
I'll post this and compare pics.
Royal fans tend to be flat on backside of the fan.
I may be wrong but there's examples.

The pics are of mine and his.
His has a hole in top center of the shaft.
Second my vacuums shaft don't want to call imy shaft.. It goes to a smaller diameter and stays that diameter through rest of the spindle.
His spindle has a curved like a like you see on the side of stairs connected to bannister or railings.
His spindle changes diameter and doesn't stay same diameter.
So like I said it's not a Kirby.
It may be a Bojack knockoff that 10 blades are notorious for. It however is not a Kirby vacuum spindle unless it predates 505 4c vacuums.
Tell us phaeton what did bill say.
I'm wasn't good at wording my reasons I was tired and my vacuums were not in a location for me to obtain pics.
Ben is there any fan you know of where you can thread it yourself. My royal fan blade is cracked and it's going to be off balance. I cannot fix the fan. I don't know amodel using spacers and spindle from original fan.

Just putting this out there, but you all know that aluminum fan blades can be welded back together if they're cracked, right? Presumably if it's something rare enough to warrant repair over replacement.
