IMHO, the SEB228 performs slightly better than the SEB236 anyway. It's bigger and a bit chunkier, and doesn't have a light, but it actually agitates better and does a better job of dislodging sand and fuzz.

FORGET the Sharks---their powernozzles have sealed non-serviceable parts. You have to replace the nozzle or even the whole vacuum.Who wants to play in the dirt and dust of these machines?A BAGGED machine is FAR better-and easier to maintain. When you replace the bag--you get a NEW primary filter!I have had NO odor problems with my Kirby bags.If you do pick up after pets and such there are carbon fiber impregnated bags available from Kirby.Try them and see if the odor problems go away.Sharks are DUMPSTER vacuums-simple as that! They are a disposable vacuum! If a Kirby bag smells-you can replace it-if the Shark smells-you have to try to wash it out or REPLACE the whole vacuum!Sebo makes a fine canister vacuum. They are well made-work well. And the D series machines have a HUGE Filtrete type bag that holds like an upright! The filters in these are easy to replace.Since the bag in a bagged vacuum deals with MOST of the dirt-filters last longer!

NO BAGLESS!

DON'T go bagless! They are the absolute worst! If you are looking for a high end cleaner ($1000+), get an Aerus vacuum. Their Guardian Upright, the Guardian canister, the Lux Classic and The Lux Legacy are all made in the USA and will last you forever. They also have a little motorized brush called the "Sidekick" for cleaning pet hair. My Aerus from 1949 is still going strong. If you are looking for a middle end vacuum ($400-$900), Go with a Simplicity or Riccar vacuum. They are made in the USA and are good vacuums for $500. If you are looking for a low end cleaner ($100 and below), I would go with the Bissell PowerForce Bagged. Decent suction and it is $48.95. It's a decent budget vac.

For me personally, the only bagless vacuum that I wouldn't ever have a problem using is a true cyclonic central vacuum like the Vacuflo for example. I wouldn't mind using some other bagless vacuums but I would only use them once every while. And there are most that I would never use but I still wouldn't have a problem collecting them.

The local Miele dealer here sells Miele vacuums at a discount price but not the bags, filters, or parts.

compddd

Usually 15% off on some models but not all of them, including trade ins as well. Sometimes just like us (I work at a vacuum store) they would also offer holiday specials but it depends on what the special is.

@compddd most local dealers will accommodate that price if Miele is running a sale themselves.
I think you got a great price.
If you owned a vacuum store is the only way you get a better price than that.

.
Hi Joe. Whatever you decide on I probably have that one which i will sell you at a good price.
I too live in San Diego and have a large number of vacuums i am slowly selling off.
