How to remove screen print from generic bags?

Kind of a follow-up from my To-fit bags thread, I'm interested to know if it's possible to safely remove the screen print from said bags in order to remove the "state the obvious" logo which I despise...

I have a plain grey bag here that I don't mind experimenting on (bought it for the U1104, sold the vac without this grey bag, which is now surplus to requirements), and I'm guessing that solvents are the key, but I just daren't try anything until someone can tell me how to remove the "logo" safely...

I'm just thinking out loud, but perhaps something mild but strong like an orange based cleaner might do it? I'd be afraid of using paint remover myself.

The only solvent I have access to in this house is paint stripper, and I'm not really that brave, for all I know the stuff'll melt the bag, cos it feels synthetic... :S

Does make me wonder what they use as the solvent for the stuff when the ink is liquid....

If its just ink or painted on, and the actual fabric isn't died, try a little bit of nail polish remover on a hidden spot. Nail Polish Remover, in small quantities, can do wonders on removing ink, sharpie, and etc...

I would say try rubbing alcohol first. Nail polish remover might be a bit too caustic. I've used rubbing alcohol for years to remove paint scratches from plastic vacuum housings.

Rubbing alcohol always seems to be the solution to things, but I haven't got any, or know where to get it (I'm sure fellow UK collectors will tell me that it's simple like going to B&Q or something!!)...

Tried hot water soaking as suggested to me by someone, no effect unfortunately, but that bag is only for finding a solution, don't mind damaging it, thinking of pulling the zip off for my G3's bag (it's the taller style bag that accommodates the drainpipe filltube setup)...

For rubbing alcohol try the pharmacy (apothocary) section of the bigger stores.

I bought an old Royal with a red and black bag for 3 bucks at an estate sale a while back.

It's crown and Royal logo on the bag were in perfect shape, but the bag was pretty dirty.

So I washed it in the washing machine, as I've done to other bags before.

After it came out, most of the pristine logo was gone.

(I did end up fixing it with a paint pen)

Maybe washing it would work?
