Oh my.....
Kyle,
1. Just take a few shots of the Compact with all the available pieces please when you are able. And post them as asked for. Take as many shots as necessary to show how good of shape it is. When you've done that the guys can give you a idea of what your Piggy is worth to them.
2. It was said in an earlier post that there are only several hundred of us that collect this type of appliance, and a few "special" instances on e-bay where a non collector will go gaga over what you have cause it's fits into a room decor or something. This happens rarely, but does occur. Or it was like the one mom used to have that was also mentioned. This makes value just so difficult to determine sometimes.
2. If no one in our field of vintage vacuum collecting wants it, put it back in your storage area, and forget about it. Or simply use it occasionally and enjoy it for yourself. Their NOT the most interesting machines, but they are very well made, clean rather well, and do the job as intended. If you don't get what you want for it. It may be wanted later by someone. At that time you can offer it up and see where it goes.
3. Remember that good things come to those who wait. I know you know this, as we've had a conversation about this, and of what I've had over the years and I will be 30 years old July 30th. And I waited MANY years to get some of the things that I have, as well as all the collectors here. Ive had several hundred over the last 30 years... and now have only about 35. They are the ones that I love and wont part with. And that suits me perfect.
4. Some may not wish to part with anything right now in trade. That isn't personal, just an observation that Twin-Fan's and Duo-Powers are out there being sought by other collectors, and
you just have to wait for the right time to either purchase or trade the Compact to get what you want for yourself.. After you can drive ,and can get some haunts around...this will help your collection dramatically. Ask anyone I'm sure they will agree.
4. Greed never gets anyone anywhere. We talked about that earlier also. After you've gotten your fair estimates, decide what seems to be a good price. Then ask for it. That's really all you can do.
5.I have never owned a Compact, and probably will never.I feel therefore I have no business giving you a price estimate. Compacts, as you've found out for yourself, are just not my bag. I remember using one that Jeff P./ hoover1060 had many years ago when he lived in Nebraska. It was a later one with the Eureka head. It was cool..but not something I wanted to run out after. It's all in who's interested, and what they want to pay.
I know that your just trying to get an idea, but unfortunately many people have many different answers for you. I will keep a lookout for what you desire and I'm sure that your other "haunts" you do have will provide also.
And in what you are trying to do, I simply got the feeling that you are offering the Compact in trade for something you want more. People just need to see what you have to offer before they "find" one that you are looking for. And believe, if it is nice, and complete you may have something in trade offered up. If that collector is looking for that particular Compact though.
