Hoover Model 1334 Motor Removal?

Hi guys, I have a Hoover 1334 which I love, but had to stop using it due to the motor bearings becoming intolerably noisy!
I'm fed up with my stupid Dyson now so I'm going to replace the bearings in the old Hoover.

With the base cover removed, I can't quite see how to remove the motor. I can see the screws that hold it in place but the rear ones are inaccessible. Looking at it, I began to wonder if the metal plate that is bonded to the Bakelite body has to be removed with the motor attached. Is that correct?

What is the procedure for removing the motor on these machines? Could someone walk me through it?

Hoover motor removal

This is probably same as the US lightweight I recently cleaned.Just go step by step.Remove brush,bag,handle sections.The rear wheels & handle bail.Then you can see & remove all 4 motor screws.The metal plate that is also fan housing has a screw that can only be removed after motor & fan are out.This is a nice Hoover once you see how the 'jigsaw puzzle' fits.I also teach "If it will be more than 5 minutes before reassembly,put each screw in hole it comes out of."

Thank you very much for your reply and the useful information. I'll have a proper go at it later this week. Just in the process of restoring the plastics and I'll replace the broken power cable while I'm at it.
